Leslie Jones Reacts to Trump’s “Least Racist” Comment on ‘The View’: “I Laughed So Hard”

Leslie Jones’s main takeaway from last night’s presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden was that Trump might want to hit up some open mic nights, because she thinks the man’s got jokes. Appearing on this morning’s episode of The View, Jones was there to discuss her new series, Supermarket Sweep, but the conversation veered toward her thoughts on the presidential debate.

Earlier in the episode, hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin had discussed their thoughts on Donald Trump’s comment at the debate that he was “the least racist person in [the] room,” and Whoopi asked Sunny “Did you go ‘Bwaaahaa!’ like I did?” Sunny replied, “I’m still laughing about it, actually.” Sunny says she wishes that Biden would have fact-checked Trump’s claim from last week’s town hall that he has “done more for the African American community than any president with the exception of Abraham Lincoln.”

“Did he do more than Lyndon Johnson who passed the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act? Did he do more than Barack Obama who actually handed him the lowest unemployment rate for Black people?” Hostin asked. “He hasn’t done anything.”

So when Jones joined the panel toward the end of the episode, Whoopi brought the topic back up and asked for her thoughts on the matter. “I laughed so hard,” Jones says. “I was like, oh Trump is doing comedy now?… That’s the best punchline I ever heard!” Jones, an SNL veteran, should know. View fans on Twitter piled on to the commentary.

Jones was even more direct about her feelings about Trump while she commented live during the debate: “He is a f—ing idiot.”
