Netflix Drops NSFW Trailer for ‘Hoops,’ an Adult Animated TV Show

Whatever the opposite of motivational speaking is, Jake Johnson uses it to coach his basketball team in Netflix‘s new series, Hoops. The streaming service released the first full trailer for the adult animated comedy today, introducing us to the “losers” and “bitch boys” who make up Johnson’s high school basketball team.

Hoops follows Ben, a struggling, foul-mouthed basketball coach (Johnson) who is tasked with overseeing an awfully untalented high school team. Aside from improving his team’s horrible basketball skills, Ben is dealing with plenty of issues off the court, too. He’s estranged from his wife, who’s turned all of her attention to her horse farm and is dating Ben’s best friend — but he can’t seem to let her go, and still texts her, “You up?” nightly.

Ben also still lives in the shadow of his dad, Barry Hopkins, a former professional athlete who now runs a steakhouse and has zero respect for Ben. “I may call you a disappointment, but it’s your choice to feel that way,” he tells his son. Ben makes it his mission to turn the team around and get his life back on track, but it looks like a pretty bumpy road. “You can’t be an asshole and a losing coach!” he’s told in today’s trailer.

As if the plot alone wasn’t enough, today’s trailer for the animated comedy proves that just because it’s a cartoon, it doesn’t mean it’s fit for kids. Between the swearing, drug use, and sex in today’s first look, Hoops is pretty NSFW. The series joins a growing collection of adult comedies on Netflix, which is also home to Big Mouth, Bojack Horseman and The Midnight Gospel.

Aside from Johnson, Rob RiggleNatasha LeggeroRon Funches, Cleo King, and A.D. Miles all star in Hoops, which comes from creator and executive producer Ben Hoffman.
