All Eight ‘Harry Potter’ Films to Stream on Peacock this Fall

Evanesco! As soon as all eight Harry Potter films were added to HBO Max in a last minute deal, the fantasy favorites are leaving the streaming service later this month. But before Potter-heads start to panic, there’s a new plan set in place for the films — Peacock announced today that they’ll be the new streaming home of all eight Harry Potter movies this fall.

According to Vulture, the deal lasts for at least one month — while the films will stream on Peacock during the month of October, they’ll leave the streaming service for NBCUniversal’s broadcast networks when the month is up. The Harry Potter films will return to streaming on Peacock in early 2021 for a six-month period.

Come Oct. 1, Peacock users will have access to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the final two films in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 and Part 2.

“The Harry Potter franchise is beloved by people of all ages and represents the caliber of quality entertainment customers can expect to find on Peacock,” said Frances Manfredi, President, Content Acquisition and Strategy, Peacock. “We’ve built a world-class collection of iconic movies and shows, and we will continue to expand the film library with treasured titles from NBCUniversal and beyond that will surprise and delight Peacock customers time and time again.”

The news comes just months after HBO Max announced they were adding the Harry Potter films to their library in a last minute addition. While the films will stay on HBO Max for three months and leave the service on Aug. 25, the move to Peacock means that access to Harry’s magical world no longer comes with a price tag — while HBO Max charges its customers a monthly fee, the basic Peacock plan is totally free for all users. Just keep in mind that the first Peacock tier is ad-supported, so you’ll have to sit through a few commercials before watching Harry take down He Who Must Not Be Named.
