Woman Crush Wednesday: ‘Little Voice’ Actress Brittany O’Grady Will Be a Big Star

Man, time sure flies when there’s great stuff to stream, am I right or am I right? Here we are, it’s the first full week of July and we’re already lining up our second Women Crush Wednesday of the month. We’re continuing to celebrate wonderful women this month by shouting out a young actress and singer who has already done well for herself in her budding career and who you’re gonna want to look out for in the years to come. Everybody give it up for this week’s WCW, the talented Brittany O’Grady!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Brittany O’Grady

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING:

O’Grady stars as Bess King in the brand new Apple TV+ romantic comedy-drama original series Little Voice, which is coming to the platform this Friday, July 10. O’Grady’s Bess is an aspiring singer in New York City and the central character of this show that explores the universal journey of finding your authentic voice in your early 20s. It is described as a fresh, intensely romantic tale of the search to find your true voice…and then the courage to use it.

Little Voice has already received positive buzz, such as Variety, who in a recent article had praise in particular for O’Grady’s performance as Bess, writing that she “brings an eminent warmth, not to mention a singing voice reminiscent of [Little Voice co-creator and songwriter Sarah] Bareilles’ that fills every inch of the screen, to the role,” and Collider, which recently complimented Little Voice as a whole, writing it is “a sweet, warm-hearted show, filled with natural performances and dotted with lovely songs.” Clearly, this is a show worth watching, and in large part thanks to the fantastic, multi-faceted performance from O’Grady, so we can’t wait to watch Little Voice ASAP and see her in action!

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: While O’Grady may be young, Little Voice isn’t the star’s first rodeo. No no, in fact, she made her professional on-screen debut in 2014 in an episode of ABC sitcom Trophy Wife to kick off a career that only continued to gain traction from there. By the next year, O’Grady appeared in two different shows: an episode of NBC medical drama The Night Shift, and as recurring role Nadia Garcia in The CW supernatural mystery drama, The Messengers.

But it was in 2016 that O’Grady hit her stride by getting the role for which she is best known, as Simone Davis Rivera, a lead role in the Lee Daniels-created musical drama television series Star, which she stayed on until the show’s conclusion in 2019. But Star‘s end in 2019 only marked more new beginnings for O’Grady, as she made her film debut (twice over!) the same year, appearing in Emilia Clarke and Jack Huston-led thriller Above Suspicion, and co-starring in slasher Black Christmas. With these varied roles and compelling performances already under her belt, there’s no telling what the future holds for O’Grady in what is sure to be a long and successful career.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: While we’re not sure what’s next for O’Grady at the moment when it comes to film and television roles, you’re in luck, because you can still keep up with the star in a number of ways. Check in with O’Grady by following her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, or by checking out her personal website.
