Hannibal is coming to Netflix! The cult classic starring Mads Mikkelsen as the cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Hugh Dancy as FBI agent Will Graham will be streaming on Netflix very, very soon. So when can you watch the show that turned Hannibal into a dapper anti-hero seething with sensuality? Here’s everything you need to know about when Hannibal, the show, is coming to Netflix.

Created by Bryan Fuller, Hannibal to reframe the story behind The Silence of the Lambs by focusing on how Hannibal Lecter was caught by the FBI in the first place. While the official prequel, Red Dragon, hints at how Will Graham and his FBI boss Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) figured out that one of their consultants was actually a criminal, it doesn’t show us the actual chase. Fuller decided to mine this untold backstory with wit, style, and a tremendous amount of decadent gore. (The over-the-top murder tableaus the show became infamous for? They’re honestly a great stylistic interpretation of Hannibal creator Thomas Harris’s own purple prose.) The series Hannibal opens with Will Graham teaming up with Dr. Hannibal Lecter on a mysterious crime and follows the two as they develop an intense bond, rivaling that of the scintillating cat and mouse game on Killing Eve.

WHEN WILL HANNIBAL BE ON NETFLIX?

All three seasons of Hannibal will be streaming on Netflix on Friday, June 5. For a brief window of time, it seemed only the first season was now streaming. Decider can confirm that all three seasons of Hannibal are now on Netflix.

WHAT TIME CAN I WATCH HANNIBAL ON NETFLIX?

Like all new Netflix releases, you can expect Hannibal to drop on the streaming service at 3 AM ET/12 AM PT. However, if you don’t see it online at that time, just wait a few minutes and refresh your browser or app.

HOW IS HANNIBAL THE SHOW CONNECTED TO THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS?

Essentially, Hannibal the show is a prequel to both Red Dragon, aka Manhunter and The Silence of the Lambs.

Most of the series Hannibal is set before Thomas Harris’s first book, Red Dragon. That novel tells the story of Will Graham as he becomes unhinged tracking down a killer nicknamed “the Tooth Fairy.” When Will is stymied in the case, he visits Dr. Hannibal Lecter, the last major killer he caught, in jail for some tense conversations.

The Silence of the Lambs takes place after Red Dragon. By this time, Will Graham has retired from service and FBI chief Jack Crawford asks a trainee named Clarice Starling to interview Hannibal in his stead. You know what happens next…

What makes this order kind of confusing is that the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs is also called Hannibal and the last season of Hannibal the show puts its spin on Red Dragon.

Here’s the easiest way to think of where Hannibal the show fits in the larger Hannibal Lecter saga:

  1. Hannibal, the TV series.
  2. Red Dragon, the movie/Manhunter, the movie (two different film adaptations of the same story)
  3. The Silence of the Lambs, the movie
  4. Hannibal, the movie
