Watch Jennifer Lopez Teach Shakira How to Butt Jiggle in Super Bowl Rehearsal Video

Just when you thought the Super Bowl Halftime Show couldn’t get any better… On Sunday, Jennifer Lopez treated fans to a new video of her first halftime show rehearsal, a session that seemed full of butt-shaking, pole-climbing action. In one particularly amazing moment, J.Lo can be seen teaching Shakira how to shake her body for maximum butt jiggly-ness and fan pleasure. Hint: it’s all in the knees.

Yesterday morning, Lopez celebrated the three-month anniversary of her legendary Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show performance with a throwback Instagram post. “I can’t believe it’s already been 3 months since the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show!” wrote the actress, singer, and dancer. “So much has happened since then, but I wanted to share a fun peek behind the scenes at our first rehearsal with the dancers and Shakira.”

The six different videos included in the post are brief, but they give fans a sense of just how much effort went into J.Lo and Shakira’s halftime show. In one video, Lopez straddles a pole as she prepares for her dramatic entrance; in another, she and Shakira prance around the stage with an ensemble of young dancers, all clad in black.

But it’s Lopez’s butt jiggling lesson that will go down in Super Bowl infamy. During a break in rehearsal, Lopez offers Shakira a butt shaking lesson (Shakira’s hips don’t lie, her butt might). “I do it with my knees,” says Lopez, mid-gyration. “If you shake your knees, your butt goes.”

Lopez goes on to explain that she comes from a long line of movers and shakers. “My mother taught me that,” she tells Shakira, “When I was four.”

Clearly, Lopez’s lessons paid off: when the time came, Shakira nailed the butt jiggle. The duo’s halftime show was nothing short of a masterpiece, and it was filled with homages to their Latina heritage and the city of Miami. Who knows if the 2021 Super Bowl will end up happening, but if it does, fans everywhere will be begging for a J.Lo-Shakira encore. You saw that mid-air spin — can you really blame them?
