‘The Goonies’ Stars Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, and Josh Brolin to Reunite in Virtual Special

“Hey you guys!” Today, The Goonies cast will be reuniting for a virtual special to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the beloved film. With some help from Frozen star (and noted Goonies superfan) Josh Gad, Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, and more OG stars will reconvene to raise money for The Center for Disaster Philanthropy and COVID-19 relief.

On Sunday night, Gad revealed that he’ll be hosting a Goonies reunion special filled with juicy nuggets for fans of the 1985 cult classic. “There is one movie that defines my childhood. One move that defines my personality. One move that defines me,” tweeted the actor. “Tomorrow, please join me at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. EST in support of The Center for Disaster Philanthropy as I reunited the ENTIRE CAST of The Goonies.”

In subsequent tweets, Gad teased that The Goonies reunion will feature “insane surprises” and tons of original stars, including Brolin, Feldman, Kerri Green (Andy), Ke Huy Quan (Data), Martha Plimpton (Stef), and Jeff Cohen (Chunk).

Gad also posted a teaser for the pre-taped event, in which Astin recites Mikey’s infamous “Troy’s Bucket” monologue. “Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here!” he says. “It’s all over the minute we ride up Troy’s Bucket.”

Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg’s 1985 comedy follows a group of kids (“the Goonies”) who embark on an adventure as they attempt to save their homes from foreclosure. When the kids discover an old treasure map in one of their attics, they set out to unearth the long-lost fortune, but they soon discover that they’re not the only ones searching for lost gold. The Goonies went on to gross $124 million at the worldwide box office, making it one of the highest-grossing films of 1985, but more importantly, it remains one of the most beloved films of the ’80s.

Josh Gad’s The Goonies reunion special airs today, Monday, April 27, at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET on YouTube.
