Here we go! Tonight is the season finale of NBC’s hit medical drama New Amsterdam.
Premiering in September of 2018 on the Peacock, the series stars Ryan Eggold as idealistic doctor Max Goodwin, a new medical director at America’s oldest public hospital who decides to break the rules in order to heal the system. Also starring Janet Montgomery, Jock Sims, Freema Agyeman, Tyler Labine, and Anupam Kher, New Amsterdam has garnered a passionate fanbase and currently has an 80% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The second season of the popular series was cut short due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so when can fans expect New Amsterdam Season 3 to premiere on NBC? Here’s everything we know.

Tonight. The New Amsterdam season finale will air Tuesday, April 14 on NBC.
WHAT TIME IS NEW AMSTERDAM ON TONIGHT?
Tonight’s Season 2 finale will air from 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET.
HAS NEW AMSTERDAM BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 3?
You know it! Back in January of 2020, NBC renewed New Amsterdam for three additional seasons.
WHEN IS THE NEW AMSTERDAM SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE?
*** UPDATE (2/1/21): Season 3 of New Amsterdam premieres Tuesday, March 2 on NBC! ***
No official premiere for Season 3 has been announced, but based on recent history, we’d normally have a good idea of when to expect new episodes:
Season 1 Premiere Date: September 25, 2018
Season 2 Premiere Date: September 24, 2019
Under normal circumstances, New Amsterdam would almost certainly return in September of 2020. Unfortunately, the recent production delays and uncertain future due to the coronavirus pandemic make it difficult to predict a New Amsterdam return date.
It’s possible that the series could proceed without any significant delays, but if the pandemic continues throughout the summer, we expect the next season to premiere somewhere between October and December of 2020.
