Will There Be a ‘High Fidelity’ Season 2?

High Fidelity is the latest charming comedy to win Hulu subscribers over. All 10 episodes of High Fidelity‘s first season hit Hulu on Friday, February 14, and swiftly became the thing to binge over Valentine’s Day Weekend.

Inspired by the book by Nick Hornby, High Fidelity takes us into the world of Rob (Zoe Kravitz), a sweet, cool, and totally lovelorn record shop owner trying to pull herself together in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Along with best friends Simon (David H. Holmes) and Cherise (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), Rob does her best to figure out the reason why she struggles with romance by recounting (and literally revisiting) her five biggest heartbreaks.

If you fell harder for High Fidelity that Rob did for Mac (Kingsley Ben-Adir), you’ve probably already binged your way through all 10 episodes — and want more. Will there be a High Fidelity Season 2 on Hulu? And when will High Fidelity Season 2 likely premiere on Hulu?

Will There Be a High Fidelity Season 2 on Hulu?

Since High Fidelity Season 1 just landed on Hulu on Friday, it’s still too soon to say whether or not Hulu will renew the show for a second season. For example: Shrill wasn’t renewed for a second season until approximately two months after its debut, while Pen15 wasn’t renewed until almost four months after its debut. So we probably won’t know until late Spring 2020 if High Fidelity Season 2 is a-go.

However there’s already been a few hints that it could happen. Besides the ambiguous High Fidelity Season 1 ending that leaves us uncertain about Rob’s romantic future, star and EP Zoe Kravitz has already confirmed that she wants to continue making the show. During the show’s panel at Winter TCA, Kravitz said they were purposely left out details from Nick Hornby’s book so they would have more to draw on later.

“I think the hope was that if we do more seasons, we have more things to draw from,” she said, adding, “So [we] don’t wanna, excuse my French, blow our load.”

So Kravitz is hoping for more High Fidelity, and ironically, it could be her schedule that holds production up…

When Will High Fidelity Season 2 Premiere on Hulu?

If Hulu renews High Fidelity for a second season, it likely won’t premiere on Hulu until early 2021. The first season was shot in Brooklyn in summer 2019, which means the show needs a six month turnaround. However, Kravitz is currently shooting a little understated movie called The Batman. That means that her schedule might be a little tied up until late spring or summer, putting a second season on approximately the same timeline as the first. (Summer shooting at the earliest with a February 2021 release date.)

That’s all assuming that Hulu announces by April 2020 that High Fidelity Season 2 is happening and that the production crew and cast can reconvene this summer. Again, it’s all down to schedules.
