There definitely is not another Best Picture nominee like Jojo Rabbit, that’s for sure. Only a mad genius like Taika Waititi could turn a tale of a German boy and his dumb-dumb imaginary best friend (Adolf Hitler, played by Waititi) into an emotionally resonant ride. The film’s peculiar but razor sharp take on World War II and blind patriotism comes to life via an all star cast that includes Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, Sam Rockwell, and newcomer Roman Griffin Davis.
But how can you watch Jojo Rabbit? Can you stream it before the Oscars air? And when will the Jojo Rabbit Blu-ray be released? Here’s what you need to know!
When will Jojo Rabbit be released digitally?
You’ll be able to add Jojo Rabbit to your digital movie library when it leaps onto digital on February 4. The film will be available in your preferred VOD storefront, including iTunes, Prime Video, FandangoNow, Google Play, Vudu, and more. But if you like the act of physically adding a movie to your collection, you can wait a couple weeks and get a digital copy along with the 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases.
When will Jojo Rabbit be available to rent digitally?
If you want to check out Jojo Rabbit for a fraction of the cost, you will be able to rent the film on VOD starting on February 18.
When will the Jojo Rabbit Blu-ray be released?
Jojo Rabbit arrives on Blu-ray on February 18. You’ll be able to purchase the Taika Waititi film in three different formats: there’s a 4K UHD release (also comes with a Blu-ray and digital copy), a Blu-ray release (also comes with a digital copy), and a DVD release.
When is Jojo Rabbit coming to DVD?
Jojo Rabbit will drop on DVD collection on February 18. This is also the only way to get Jojo Rabbit on DVD, as the Blu-ray release does not come with a DVD version of the film. Keep that in mind if you’re a DVD collector!
What special features will be included?
The 4K, Blu-ray and digital versions of the film will come with three deleted scenes, outtakes, trailers, a featurette titled “Inside Jojo Rabbit,” and audio commentary from director and star Taika Waititi.
When will Jojo Rabbit be on Netflix?
Nope! Jojo Rabbit was distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures, which means it will most likely not head to Netflix. That’s because Fox is now part of Disney, which has its own pair of streaming services that compete with Netflix. But also don’t expect Jojo Rabbit to stream on Disney+.
When will Jojo Rabbit be on Hulu?
This is the real question, isn’t it? Odds are that the Searchlight Pictures output will ultimately stream on Hulu, which is also owned by Disney and theoretically where the more mature Fox films will end up. However, Disney’s acquisition of Fox and Hulu is so new that we don’t yet have precedent for Searchlight films going to Hulu, nor do we know what the wait would be. When will Jojo Rabbit be on HBO?
… it could end up on HBO. Again, we don’t know if Disney’s acquisition of Fox will affect the studio’s relationship with HBO, but in the past, all of Fox Searchlight’s films have ended up on HBO as the Saturday night movie. If tradition holds, then you can expect to see Jojo Rabbit on HBO sometime in July 2020.
