When Will ‘Honey Boy’ Be on Amazon Prime?

Shia LaBeouf‘s career has been through a lot of phases. From Even Stevens to Holes to Transformers to weird performance art—which at its height had LaBeouf on the red carpet wearing a brown paper bag over his head with “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE” on it—this 33-year-old actor has shown the world a lot of different sides. Now, in his newest film, Honey Boy, he might just show us his truest side yet.

Honey Boy is directed by Alma Har’el and was written by LaBeouf, who based the script on his own life growing up as a child actor. Lucas Hedges plays the character LaBeouf based on himself, Otis Lort, while LaBeouf takes on the role of his father (named James Lort in the film). As he reveals in the film, LaBeouf’s father was an eccentric, sometimes abusive Vietnam war veteran who struggled with a drug and alcohol addiction throughout LaBeouf’s childhood. He had a strained relationship to LaBeouf, who rose to fame on the Disney Channel show Even Stevens when he was 14 years old.

Honey Boy premiered at Sundance in January to overwhelmingly positive reviews, with critics praising the film as a clearly therapeutic and meaningful project for the former Disney star. Whether or not you’re a fan of a LaBeouf, you’ll want to watch this one. But how? Read on, my friend.
