‘Shine On with Reese’: Watch Reese Witherspoon in ‘Morning Show’ Mode on Netflix

It turns out that you don’t need a subscription to Apple TV+ if you want to see Reese Witherspoon in full on “Morning Show” mode. Witherspoon’s very own talk show, Shine on with Reese, landed on Netflix recently. The series, which aired on DirecTV last year, follows Witherspoon as she chats with inspiring women from all walks of life about the pivotal moments that helped push them to the top. It’s a sweet interview series that lets Witherspoon show off her inner talk show host without the backstage backstabbing you get on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show.

Shine on with Reese is a sweetly inspirational nonfiction series focused on women who have managed to achieve their dreams. In each 20-minute episode host and producer Reese Witherspoon sits down with celebrities like Dolly Parton, Kacey Musgraves, P!nk, America Ferrera, and Ava DuVernay, and she talks to them about how they managed to overcome sexism, poverty, bigotry, and self-doubt to figuratively “shine” in their respective industries. However, Witherspoon doesn’t just profile household names. She also takes the time to interview businesswomen like Sara Blakely (founder of Spanx) and up-and-coming leaders like Simone Askew (the first African-American woman promoted to the position of First Captain at West Point).

Like The Morning Show, Shine on with Reese, comes from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company. However, unlike the scripted Apple TV+ drama, Shine on with Reese gives us a look at what Witherspoon herself is like as an interviewer. Since she’s not playing a part, Witherspoon has an opportunity to be vulnerable with her heroes, and show off the topics she personally is interested in.

All together, Shine on with Reese isn’t groundbreaking journalism, but it is a charming interview series that will, as the title suggests, brighten your day.

The whole first season of Shine on with Reese is now streaming on Netflix.
