HBO Makes ‘Succession’, ‘The Righteous Gemstones’, and ‘Ballers’ Available to Stream Early Ahead of Labor Day

If you were planning on ditching your Labor Day plans to watch Succession, no need: Sunday’s episode will be available to stream early on HBO Go, Now, and On Demand. This afternoon, HBO announced that episodes of SuccessionThe Righteous Gemstones, and Ballers originally scheduled for Sunday, September 1 will now hit the platform on Friday, August 30, removing any potential conflicts with holiday weekend cookouts. Nothing says “Friday night” quite like watching members of the Roy family verbally abuse one another, right?

Beginning Friday, viewers will be able to watch Succession Season 2 Episode 4, “Safe Room,” on all HBO platforms. The new episode follows Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin) as he begins a six-week management training program in the Parks division — oh, how the tables have turned, Romulus. Elsewhere, Logan (Brian Cox) brings in Shiv (Sarah Snook) for a totally not-weird “Bring Your Daughter to Work Day,” raising suspicions with Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron). “Safe Room” will also feature a guest appearance from Holly Hunter, who plays the CEO of PGM, a Waystar Royco competitor that Logan’s set his sights on.

Immediately after Succession, check out Episode 3 of The Righteous Gemstones. “They Are Weak, But He Is Strong” will introduce fans to Baby Billy (Walter Goggins), the elderly brother of the late Gemstone matriarch Aimee-Leigh (Jennifer Nettles). And finally, don’t miss the second episode of Ballers Season 5, “Must Be the Shoes.” The Rock’s NFL comedy will be ending after this season, so if you haven’t already watched the season premiere, we suggest using your long weekend to catch up (the episodes are only 30 minutes long. It will literally take you an hour).

Purists looking to watch SuccessionThe Righteous Gemstones, and Ballers at their normal times are in luck: the new episodes will still air on Sunday, September 1 during their regular time slots on the main HBO channel, beginning at 9/8c.
