Anna Kendrick Tries to Save Christmas in First Disney+ ‘Noelle’ Trailer

Christmas came early for everyone at the Disney+ Showcase at D23. The jam-packed, star-studded panel at the Anaheim Convention Center gave a room full of excited fans a look at what’s to come on the highly anticipated Disney streaming service, and that included a first look at Noelle.

The Disney+ Christmas comedy stars Anna Kendrick as you’ve never seen her before: playing the daughter of Santa Claus. Turns out that actually, Santa Claus had a whole lot of kids–which kinda makes sense seeing as how someone has to take over the family business when he decides to hang up his fuzzy red hat. That task falls to Noelle’s brother, played by Bill Hader, a North Pole slacker that isn’t exactly a natural when it comes to writing up naughty and nice lists. In fact, all it takes is one misinterpreted comment from Noelle to send him off the deep end and running as far away from his jingle duties as possible! With Christmas on the way, it’s up to Noelle and her other brother Gabriel (Billy Eichner) and their nanny (Shirley MacLaine) to save the entire holiday season.

The timing around the Disney+ launch couldn’t be more right for Noelle, either. With a November 12 start date, Noelle will hit subscribers’ homes just in time for the holiday season to begin in earnest. Heck, you’ll be able to watch the movie dozens of times before December 1!

This won’t be the only family-friendly original movie available when Disney+ launches, either. The live-action Lady and the Tramp will be available to stream too, which will probably pair well with Noelle for a pretty great double-feature. Noelle debuts on Disney+ on November 12.
