Disney+’s Live-Action ‘Lady and the Tramp’ Trailer Features Real, Cute Dogs

The D23 trailer-palooza continued with the release of the first trailer for Disney+’s live-action adaptation of Lady and the Tramp. But unlike recent “live-action” re-imaginings of The Lion King and The Jungle Book, this movie actually is live-action–meaning there are real, cute, really cute dogs in it!

The trailer follows the story we all know and love from the original 1955 animated masterpiece: there’s Lady, the pampered pooch, and then there’s the Tramp, a streetwise scoundrel who belongs to no man. Together, they see the very real sights as well as lots of very real humans. Seriously, it’s kind of a marvel to see a live-action, animal-focused Disney remake that is actually live-action! And it has adorable canines, to boot!

The voice cast includes Tessa Thompson as Lady and Justin Theroux as Tramp. The film also stars the voices of Sam Elliott, Ashley Jensen, Janelle Monae, and Benedict Wong. The human cast includes Yvette Nicole Brown, Kiersey Clemons, Thomas Mann, and Arturo Castro.

The new Lady and the Tramp is just one of many, many offerings that will be available when Disney+ launches on November 12. It’s also the first live-action remake to go straight to a streaming service as opposed to the theaters, which implies we could get a lot more of these on streaming. Maybe this is a chance for some of the lesser-known Disney films to get another go? Give us a live-action The Rescuers, Disney+!

Lady and the Tramp arrives on Disney+ on November 12.
