‘The Deuce’ Season 3 Premiere Date Revealed By HBO

HBO has revealed that the third and final season of its popular porn industry drama The Deuce, starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal, will premiere on Sept 9.

The platform tweeted the news in the form of a relevant image of a VHS tape – since the new season will pick up the storyline now in the 1980s – joking that “The Deuce final season is coming to VHS – JK, but can you imagine?” You can check out the tweet below.

The series, which was created by George Pelecanos and David Simon, depicts the establishment of the porn industry in Times Square in the early 1970s as HIV and cocaine ran rampant and real estate became a highly profitable yet risky venture in the mid-1980s.

At the end of Season 2, One of Franco’s two twin characters (Vincent – a former dive bar owner) was just starting to get his stride as a porn mogul. Gyllenhaal, who plays Candy, transitions from sex worker to porn actress to now producer and director.

According to Deadline, HBO had previously revealed that season 3 of the series would be its last and that David Krumholtz, Daniel Sauli, Sepideh Moafi and Olivia Luccardi, who were formerly recurring actors, had now been upped to series regulars.

The Deuce is executive produced by Pelecanos, Simon, Nina Noble and Franco with Richard Price the co-executive producer. Marc Henry Johnson and Gyllenhaal are attached as producers.
