WHO’S THAT GAL: Laura Marano
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Now, you may be familiar with the new reigning king of rom-coms, Noah Centineo, but we’re here to tell you that Miss Marano is the star we have our eyes on. The two star in The Perfect Date, Netflix’s newest teen love flick. And while, of course, it wouldn’t be complete without Centineo, we firmly believe that Marano is the true star of this movie.
Marano’s character Celia isn’t the sweetest charmer we ever did meet, but that’s just what makes her so great. This girl packs a punch. She’s not here for any of the typical romantic comedy tropes, especially the one where the guy falls in love with the girl who was always just right in front of him. She’s better than that. Celia Lieberman is her own kind of queen and she is no one’s second place, especially not Brooks Rattigan’s. Like her character, Marano is an award to be won and TBH, we’re feeling pretty blessed to even get the opportunity to watch such greatness. Someone better tell Centineo to watch out because there’s a new star giving us those hella heart eyes.
WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Of course we know this lovely lady from her rockin’ performance in The Perfect Date, but Marano is probably best known for her role as Ally Dawson in Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally. She has made her rounds on the network as well appearing in episodes of Girl Meets World, Jessie, Liv and Maddie, and even starring in the DCOM Bad Hair Day. Marano even makes an appearance in Lady Bird.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: If you’ve already watched the heck out of The Perfect Date, then you might be interested in some of Marano’s upcoming projects. She stars in Saving Zoe, a teen thriller based on the novel of the same name, where Marano’s character Echo looks to discover the truth about her sister Zoe’s murder (payed by Marano’s real-life older sister, Vanessa). Marano will also be starring in the new TV pilot, Super Simple Love Story.
