‘The View’s Sunny Hostin Says “We Owe Michelle Wolf an Apology” After Mueller Report Revealed Sanders Lies

Meghan McCain was out sick from The View today (either that or she’s recovering from yesterday’s outburst), but her co-hosts stepped in to deliver the drama in her place. On Tuesday, multiple outlets that President Trump ordered administration officials to skip this year’s White House Correspondents’ dinner, and the women of the ABC talk show had plenty to say about it. The panel agreed that Trump’s decision is “unfortunate,” as it reinforces the idea that “we have a president that doesn’t have a sense of humor.” While Joy Behar compared Trump to “Typhoid Mary,” it was Sunny Hostin who was most critical of administration officials. “We owe Michelle Wolf an apology,” Hostin said of last year’s WHCA dinner host, who ignited controversy with her repeated jabs at press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg opened the segment with a harsh rebuke of Trump. “This man has no sense of humor,” said Goldberg. “If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t be in the job. Everybody’s kicking your ass as president. Every president has taken it, and taken it like champs.” Behar agreed, adding that Trump is “touchy and paranoid.” She continued, “He’s like Typhoid Mary. Everything he touches turns to dust.” This is a poor understanding of how typhoid spreads (and what it is), but that’s neither here nor there.

Hostin then chimed in to say that “the media did get it right a lot of times,” particularly with regard to Sanders. “I think that we really owe Michelle Wolf, that comedian that did speak last year, an apology,” said Hostin. “Because one of her jokes was: ‘I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful. She burns facts, and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Like, maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.” Hostin went on to say that “we now know” that “she lies,” because Sanders admitted to doing so in the Mueller report.

Conservative co-host Abby Huntsman pushed back, saying that Wolf “also gave a lot of personal attacks on her looks and compared her to The Handmaid‘s Tale,” but Hostin would not be deterred. “That was apparently one of the attacks, which was true,” she said, brandishing her notecard with the “eye shadow as lies” joke.

Huntsman huffed and looked on silently, but it was Goldberg who got in the last word. “When you’re pissed at the media and you say, ‘All they do is lie, all they do is lie,’ but when the words are coming out of your mouth and you’re on video, you can’t call it fake news!” said Goldberg. “But he does. And people say, ‘Yes, that’s fake.'”
