WHO’S THAT GAL: Aisha Dee
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Dee has been starring as Kat Edison on Freeform’s The Bold Type for a little while now, and not gonna lie, we’ve been crushing hard since the beginning. But this season our girl has us ready to take our crush to the next level.
We’ve always loved Kat for being the strong-willed, powerful woman she is on the show. And we’ve loved Dee even more for taking the opportunity to represent a queer biracial woman on TV. She’s a total hotshot, on screen and off! But Season 3 has something juicy in store for the always fiery Kat Edison. From the looks of this season’s promo, Kat will be taking on a new role and running for city council. And while it may be a surprise to some viewers, we can’t say we’re too shocked. And there’s absolutely no doubt in our mind that Kat will rock those polls like never before.
Whether it be calling out her friends for their privilege or tackling workplace hierarchy, Kat Edison has never been one to back down from a fight. She’s strong and empowering while totally winning at life as a modern-day millennial. Kat is great, but Dee is even greater. Because without her and her kick-ass acting chops, we wouldn’t have such an incredible character to root for. Kat is just one step closer to finally breaking the glass ceiling and we have Sweet Dee to thank for bringing this character to life.
WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Dee started off her career playing Desi Biggins in The Saddle Club, the kid’s television show based on the books written by Bonnie Bryant. She also played leading roles in shows like Freeform’s Chasing Life, MTV’s Sweet/Vicious, and Fox’s short run of I Hate My Teenage Daughter. But of course, Dee is most well known from her role as Kat Edison in The Bold Type.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Kat Edison has got SO much in store for you on this season of The Bold Type. Catch Dee in new episodes Tuesday nights on Freeform at 8/7c. But if that isn’t just quite enough to satisfy your craving, Dee is also working on a new movie called Ghosting. So it doesn’t look like she’ll be ghosting us anytime soon.
