What’s New On Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, And HBO This Weekend: ‘The OA’, ‘The Dirt’, ‘The Meg’, And More

Where to Stream:

The OA

Powered by Reelgood

TGIF, folks! After a long week of all work and no play, you deserve to sit back and relax with the best the streaming world has to offer. Over the next few days, your favorite streaming services are stepping up to the plate with a fresh batch of movies and TV shows that are sure to make you feel some type of way — the “sitting on the couch and not moving” way, that is.

Whether you’re into sci-fi or music dramas, Netflix is about to become your one-stop shop this weekend. Today, the streaming giant is unveiling a stacked slate of originals, including The OA Part 2, Motley Crue biopic The Dirt, and Indian police procedural Delhi Crime. Still not satisfied? Netflix is also dropping new titles MirageSelling Sunset, and ReMastered: The Miami Showband Massacre. Talk about a packed weekend.

But Netflix isn’t the only one coming in hot with new show and movies this weekend. Prime Video is debuting Oscar-nominated Polish drama Cold War and Season 2 of The Stinky & Dirty Show (two titles that couldn’t be more different). Over on HBO, be sure to check out shark-filled action flick The Meg, which premieres Saturday on the premium cabler.

Curious what else is hitting Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and HBO? Here’s what’s new on streaming this weekend.

The OA: Part 2

After a lengthy hiatus (Part 1 debuted in December 2016), The OA is finally back with its second installment. Part 2 continues the story of Prairie (Brit Marling), but this time, she’s transported her consciousness into an alternate universe where she’s a wealthy San Francisco resident. Prairie has no recollection of what happened in Part 1, but don’t expect a complete refresh: as Prairie investigates a young woman’s disappearance in San Francisco, her disciples in the original reality attempt to figure out what’s really going on with the enigmatic woman. If that all sounds confusing, welcome to The OA, a world where sci-fi, drama, and mystery combine to form one riveting series.

The Dirt

Are you ready for a rocking good time? Based on Neil Strauss’ book of the same name, Netflix’s Motley Crue biopic follows the rise and fall of the iconic rock band. As Tommy Lee (Machine Gun Kelly), Nikki Sixx (Douglas Booth), Mick Mars (Iwan Rheon), and their band members rise to stardom, their penchant for chaos takes over, and before long, they’re nearly overdosing on heroin, getting in car crashes, and trashing hotel rooms. With appearances from Pete Davidson and David Costabile, as well, The Dirt is one music biopic you won’t want to miss.

The Meg

The MegThe freaking Meg! After a successful box office run, Jon Turteltaub’s shark-tastic action flick is finally available to stream on HBO. Starring Jason Statham, Ruby Rose, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, and more, The Meg follows a group of scientists who discover a 75-foot-long megalodon shark in the Pacific Ocean. What follows is an absolutely ridiculous (yet also very fun!) man-versus-nature tale ideal for viewers looking for a low-stakes Saturday night movie.
