The 2019 Golden Globes dished up quite a few surprises. Bohemian Rhapsody winning Best Motion Picture – Drama over A Star Is Born? Netflix’s The Kominsky Method sweeping the TV comedy categories? Black Panther getting snubbed altogether? Talk about unexpected. But amid all these snubs and surprises, we’re happy to report that we’ve found the real Best Picture winner: this video of the Black Panther cast making out. Move over, Bohemian Rhapsody, there’s a new Golden Globes champ in town.
Late Sunday night, Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o shared a mysterious video with the caption, “When the cat’s away…” The 18-second video features Danai Gurira (Black Panther‘s Okoye) waiting for an elevator that opens to reveal… Michael B. Jordan and Nyong’o making out! The two separate, embarrassed, and after Gurira drags her dress train into the elevator, she pushes Jordan aside and begins making out with Nyong’o herself. The elevator doors close, the image fades to black, and we’re left wondering what the hell we just watched. But in a good way.
Jordan, Nyong’o, and Gurira are all in their outfits from Sunday’s event, so it’s clear that they filmed it the evening of the Golden Globes (either that, or their wardrobe teams are very sneaky). But WHEN did they film this? According to PopSugar, the video was filmed in the elevator bank at the InStyle and Warner Bros. after party, where the Black Panther crew hung with the likes of Ava DuVernay, Lena Waithe, and more.
The next time you’re waiting for an elevator that’s taking forever, don’t freak out. The Black Panther cast could be in there filming a video that will eventually go on to win Best Picture. And, even more importantly, they could be MAKING OUT. How dare you disrupt such art.
