HBO Drops Our First Official Look At ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8

HBO just dropped our first official sneak peek at Game of Thrones Season 8 during the 2019 Golden Globes. A glossy commercial hyping the premium channel’s upcoming slate of original content aired in the middle of the award show’s broadcast and let us see the moment Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) meets Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

HBO has been hyping the moment for a little while now, as it was teased in a recent EW.com feature. In that article, it was strongly suggested that Sansa would be skeptical of Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) new, ahem, relationship with the Dragon Queen, but this footage suggests something slightly more complicated than that. We see Sansa tell Daenerys, “Winterfell is yours, your grace.” Of course, being Sansa, there is more than a little smiling venom in her delivery, and Emilia Clarke matches her with a look of smug delight.

The commercial didn’t just tease Game of Thrones Season 8. We also got our very first look at the new series Watchmen, starring Jeremy Irons and Golden Globe winner (tonight!) Regina King, and Euphoria, starring Zendaya and Jacob Elordi. The clip also gave us Meryl Streep as Perry’s mom, aka Meryl owning Big Little Lies Season 2.

Game of Thrones Season 8 will hit HBO in April 2019.
