Pete Davidson Says Louis C.K. Tried to Get Him Fired From ‘SNL’ for Smoking Weed

After a very rough year, Pete Davidson ended 2018 with some laughs. On Monday night, the Saturday Night Live star performed a stand-up comedy set in Boston, and he spoke freely about his relationship with Ariana Grande, SNL, and the advice he received from NBA star Richard Jefferson. But things got testy when he brought up Louis C.K., who Davidson said tried to het him fired from SNL for smoking weed. Davidson’s pointed bit was particularly timely, as it came just days after C.K. was slammed for mocking school shooting survivors in a leaked stand-up set.

After talking about Grande’s surprise “thank u, next” drop and his mom’s reaction to his breakup, Davidson turned to his many tattoos, a source at the Monday night show told E!. “I got a Harry Potter tattoo. The next day, Alan Rickman, the guy who played Snape, died, and I was like, oh, what a weird coincidence,” he said. “Then I got a Willy Wonka tattoo. Next day — Gene Wilder dies. Now I’m like, alright, that’s a coincidence, that’s weird.” Davidson moved to the punchline. “So I’m thinking about getting a tattoo of Louis C.K., what do you guys think?” After a second, he continued, “That joke used to be about Aziz Ansari, but Aziz has been nice to me recently.”

But Davidson’s jabs at Louis C.K. didn’t stop there. The SNL star went on to explain that when C.K. hosted the show in April 2017 (Davidson’s first season), the host “told all the producers in front of me that all this kid does is smoke weed and he’s gonna smoke his career away.” According to Davidson, C.K. then told SNL boss Lorne Michaels that the young star “smokes so much weed that it makes people uncomfortable.” Referencing C.K.’s admitted history of sexual misconduct, Davidson added, “Then five years later this motherf***er’s been locking doors and jerking off in front of people.”

C.K. has yet to respond to Davidson’s comments, but considering that his leaked routine is all about the stupidity of “people in their 20s,” it’s very possible that C.K. will be taking on the young SNL star in the near future.
