‘Sally4Ever’ Features the Wildest Sex Scene to Ever Air on HBO

On Sunday night, HBO premiered Sally4Ever, a new cringe comedy from British comedian Julia Davis. The series follows Sally (Catherine Shepherd), a British woman with a boring job and an even more boring fiancé, as she meets a sexy singer named Emma (Davis) and finds her life suddenly reinvigorated. The first episode is sharp, affecting, and downright hilarious, but more importantly, it features what might be the wildest sex scene HBO has ever aired. Actually, scratch that: Sally4Ever features the craziest sex scene in the history of sex. Full stop.

HBO is no stranger to sex scenes (including wild and weird ones), but even by the premium cabler’s standards, devoting almost half an act to people doin’ it is pretty unheard of. In the Sally4Ever pilot, Shepherd and Davis get it on for a full two and a half minutes, and everything they do during that time is balls to the walls crazy. We’re talking toes in butts, faces full of jizz, and bloody tampons flying across the room. Yes, all THREE of those things happen in the same show, let alone the same scene.

The action kicks off when Sally’s fiancé David (Alex Macqueen) goes out of town and leaves Sally a note asking her to try on his mother’s wedding dress. Right as Sally puts it on, she sees Emma, who she briefly made out with twice before, standing outside, and she runs downstairs to let her in. The women begin making out before they even get inside, and they dry hump their way up the stairs as T’Pau’s “China In Your Hand” plays in the background. When they finally get into Sally’s bedroom, they shove aside random items and get to doin’ it on the dresser. And on the floor. And on the bed.

Emma goes down on Sally underneath the wedding dress, then violently rips it off Sally’s body (sorry, David’s mom). The women then find some props, including a feather duster and flowers. From the looks of Emma’s face, it seems like they’re both enjoying it.

You’re probably thinking, “This doesn’t really seem that crazy. It’s just two women hooking up with props while an ’80s pop hit plays.” Just you wait. About halfway through the sex scene, we start seeing David, all alone in his hotel room, going through his nightly routine. And this isn’t just any nightly routine: he does squats while aiming a hair dryer at his crotch, flosses intensely (no plaque left behind for this dude), paints what I assume was supposed to be a portrait of Sally, cross stitches a cloth with her name on it, and more weird shit.

Nothing kills the mood quite like watching a guy rub lotion (growth serum? shaving cream? who knows, really) all over his bald head.

For every sexy shot of boobs or butts, there’s an equally off-putting shot of David doing something really fucking bizarre, and it’s effective: this is cringe comedy at its finest. The contrast between what’s going on in Sally’s room and what’s going on in David’s manages to be funny, sad, and uncomfortable all at once.

Still not convinced that this sex scene is the weirdest moment to ever grace the airwaves? At the end of the scene, Sally4Ever gives us not one, but two pièce(s) de résistance. After exhausting pretty much every move in the book, Emma decides to try something new: sticking her toe in Sally’s butt. Sally doesn’t quite know what to do, but she breathes deeply and goes with it, because Emma is clearly more experienced and has to know what she’s doing, right? Unless you’re watching some of HBO’s after-hours programming (and I know you aren’t, because the network quietly pulled shows like Cathouse and Taxicab Confessions in August), you’ve probably never seen something like this on HBO.

Shortly after the foot phalange action, something unspeakable happens (obviously I am now going to speak about it). Emma, positioned behind Sally, rips a bloody tampon out of Sally’s vagina and tosses it across the room. Where does it land? Right on David’s mother’s wedding dress, of course.

There’s not many places you can go from there, so the scene pretty much ends right after that. As the women lay there sweaty and tired, Emma drags a pink rose across Sally’s face, as if to say “That was cool. Let’s do it again.” Who says romance is dead?

Sally4Ever airs Sundays at 10:30/9:30c on HBO. We can’t promise that there will be more sex scenes like this, but we can say that the show itself (you know, the plot and characters and conflicts that exist outside the sexy stuff) is pretty damn great.
