Bodyguard might be the wildest binge-watch on Netflix. The tense British thriller is full of shocking twists and insane action sequences. It all culminates in a super-sized finale that upends every theory David Budd (Richard Madden) has about the conspiracy to harm him and Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes).

But…did you understand what actually happened? What was the deal with the kompramat? Who was the real mastermind? And what was the deal with Nadia? Here’s your handy guide to what really went down in that shocking Bodyguard ending.

**MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ALL SIX EPISODES OF BODYGUARD**

After being lured to a trendy bar by Chantal (Stephanie Hyam), David is knocked out by Luke Aikens (Matt Stokoe), the guy who’s been chauffering her around in that fancy SUV. It turns out that Aikens is a major organized crime boss and recruited Andy Apsted (Tom Brooke) to kill Julia in the sniper attack. Aikens is also the guy who broke into David’s flat and replaced his bullets with blanks.

Richard Madden in a suicide vest in Bodyguard's finale

When David wakes up he discovers that he has been outfitted in the same kind of suicide bomber vest that Nadia (Anjli Mohindra) in Episode 1. During a tense stand off with the police, David reveals that he has the kompramat hidden in his flat and it will prove his innocence. He gives the wrong location over the radio channel. Knowing that they are being watched by Longcross’s (Michael Schaeffer) allies, David silently signals to the police to switch to a secret line where he explains that someone may try to break into his house. The police intercept Longcross, who was blinded by a mace can that David hid in the wrong hiding spot.

Vicky (Sophie Rundle) puts her life on the line to stay close to David so that he cannot be shot and neutralized. They walk to his flat, where he tells her where the kompromat tablet is. After David removes his vest, he flees and confronts Chantal, who in turn takes him to Luke Aiken.

It turns out that David’s boss, Lorraine Craddock (Pippa Haywood), was in on the whole plot. She explains that Luke Aiken is the one who killed Julia Montague. Aiken discovered that Julia’s plan was to transfer greater powers to the Security Service, which would make it harder for organized crime to prevail. It would also cut down on police corruption. David was selected as Julia’s PPO to make him the fall guy. However, she didn’t sell out David’s kids’ school. Which means that the person with inside knowledge about David’s children was…Nadia.

Nadia in Bodyguard

The whole time, Nadia was masterminding all the terror attacks. From prison, she informed her terrorist network about where David’s kids went to school. Nadia also built all the bombs – the one from the train, the one used to kill Julia, the one from the Heath Bank school, and the one he wore. Aiken’s criminals planted the device, and Nadia helped them in exchange for money.

As for the kompromat…it implicated both the Prime Minister and the Head of MI-5. That’s why Longcross was involved in a shadow conspiracy to track it down and stop it. Rob MacDonald (Paul Ready) was telling the truth: they were just trying to stop Julia’s career chances.

And that’s what happened…that’s how it all came together.
