Chris Pine Says the Reaction to His ‘Outlaw King’ Penis Scene Was “Effin’ Brutal”

When David Mackenzie’s Outlaw King debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, no one wanted to talk about its epic fight scenes, high production value, or dramatic performances; instead, all anyone wanted to talk about was Chris Pine‘s penis. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Pine goes full-frontal, and the wang-induced excitement proceeded to dominate the conversation surrounding the film for the rest of the festival. In fact, it doesn’t seem as if anything has changed six weeks later: this weekend, Pine visited The Graham Norton Show and squirmed as he addressed the “Rock Out With Your Dong Out” moment. Pine explained that he’s very aware of America’s #thirsty tweets, and even though he appreciates critics paying attention to the film, he said that the vast majority were “effin’ brutal.”

Sitting between Sally Field and Rami Malek (this just keeps getting better, I know), Pine explained that he does “the Full Monty” in Outlaw King. After a discussion about what specifically that means — “Is the Full Monty the front or the back?” asked Malek — host Graham Norton showed a few post-TIFF screening tweets about Pine’s penis. “Chris Pine. Full Frontal. OUTLAW KING. That’s pretty much my review,” said one critic. “Thankfully, Netflix has a pause button,” said another (very correct) reviewer.

Malek and Field got a kick out of the tweets, many of which seemed like old news to Pine. “There’s an even better one that I think is Vanity Fair,” said Pine, inadvertently revealing that he was searching for his name (and his penis) on Twitter. “They’re effin’ brutal.”

Back in September, Pine approached the situation a bit more seriously. “What I find very funny is that there’s so much beheading in this. And yet, people want to talk about my penis,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I think that says something about our society where people can get disemboweled but it’s the man’s junk that is of interest.” It’s a good thing that the actor seems to have warmed up to all this peen talk, because watching Pine laugh at tweets about his dong is way better than watching Pine wag his finger at horny critics.

Outlaw King, otherwise known as That Movie Where Chris Pine Goes Full-Frontal, premieres Friday, November 9 on Netflix.
