What’s Leaving HBO September 2018

Fall is almost here and because you presumably are an adult and do not have to return to school, you have time to watch all the fun stuff on HBO before it leaves this month!

HBO is very kind in that it saves all of its expiring content for the end of the month, so you have all of September to dig into these great titles before they disappear on the 30th. Some of the movies that are leaving include several of the Die Hard movies (Die Hard, Die Hard 2, and Die Hard With A Vengeance) as well as a few – though not all – X Men titles, including Logan, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and X2.

National Lampoon’s Animal House

The original frat comedy! SNL was only in its third season and many of the actors in this movie were relatively unknown, but it became quite the hit. And, if I’m not mistaken, made the toga party way more popular than it ever should have been. But it’s still a good movie to watch with some watery beer and a plate of nachos!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe

This may be somewhat of a kids movie, but maybe you have kids? Or maybe you just like fantasy with great costumes and also Tilda Swinton! She is an alien goddess and we don’t deserve her. Either way, this movie, just like the book series it was based on, is a good time if you let yourself just enjoy it for what it is. Or if you are a kid. It has incredible production value and a beautiful message about sibling love.

The House

No, this movie is not the best thing to come from either of its stars, but their chemistry and natural on screen charisma is enough to make it worth a watch. Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell star as husband and wife who start an underground casino to pay for their daughter’s college. It’s a bit too wacky to believe, but ultimately packs some good laughs.
