HGTV Outbid Lance Bass on ‘The Brady Bunch’ House

Deadline reports that HGTV has officially bought the house from The Brady Bunch and that the lifestyle cable channel is planning on featuring it in a ’70s-themed renovation series sometime in the future. The iconic mid-century modern house is located in Studio City, California and became famous after The Brady Bunch used it as the Brady’s home in exterior shots. All the interior shots of the Brady family’s house were, of course, created on a sound stage. Nevertheless, it’s the Studio City house that has been commonly known as “The Brady Bunch house.”

Discovery CEO David Zaslav broke the news during an earnings call this morning. Zaslav gave this statement to reporters and investors:

“One of our projects for HGTV will speak to those Brady Bunch fans on the call. You may have heard that the house from the iconic series was recently on the market in California. I’m excited to share that HGTV is the winning bidder and will restore the Brady Bunch home to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can. More detail to come over the next few months but we’ll bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories about this beloved piece of American TV history.”

It was recently reported that *NSYNC singer Lance Bass had bid $1.85 million on the property, only to be outbid by a mystery Hollywood buyer, aka HGTV. No word yet on if the house’s renovation will call upon the talents of HGTV stars like the Property Brothers, but we can safely assume the renovation will be televised.
