This ‘Jeopardy’ Video Is the Funniest Thing Dane Cook Has Ever Done

Not all Jeopardy clues are created equal. That’s a lesson comedian Dane Cook learned the hard way this past week. Luckily, he posted his reaction to his less-than-flattering clue for all of us to enjoy.

The video Cook posted is clearly edited and scripted, but that doesn’t make it any less funny. In a close-up, Cook optimistically looks into his phone’s camera and says, “I love Jeopardy. I can just watch it and get away from it all.”

The video then cuts to Alex Trebek reading a Cook-inspired clue: “Dane Cook’s half-brother and business manager stole millions from the comic, this crime of misappropriating funds.” The rest of the video is Cook staring forward in stunned silence.

The clue refers to Darryl McCauley, Cook’s half-brother who stole millions from the comedian’s personal accounts and business from 2004 to 2008. At one point, McCauley reportedly wrote himself a check from Cook for $3 million. He eventually pleaded guilty to 27 counts of larceny over $250, three counts of forgery, embezzlement, as well as other charges. Since the story broke, Cook has opened up about how this personal betrayal actually helped his life, but still. It’s bad when Jeopardy is roasting you.

Some of Cook’s fans were supportive:

But a lot of them were just in shock that a major game show had drop-kicked a comedian like that:

Maybe next time you’ll get a better clue, Cook. Oh, by the way, the answer is “What is embezzlement?”
