‘Cobra Kai’ Season 2 Is Coming To YouTube Red In 2019 (UPDATED)

UPDATE (5/10/18 1:00 p.m. ET): Cobra Kai has been renewed for a second season at YouTube Red. Deadline reports that the series will begin production this fall and debut in 2019.

After watching the first two episodes of Cobra Kai, I wrote that YouTube Red’s Karate Kid revival was one of the hands down best shows of 2018. I was wrong. Cobra Kai is the best show of 2018.

Premiering last week, the contemporary revival of the Karate Kid franchise is a textbook example of nostalgia done right. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their iconic characters as the 10-episode series confidently subverts expectations while adding a fresh new chapter to the Karate Kid saga. It’s genuine, layered, and so much freaking fun.

Will there be a Cobra Kai season 2? If so, when is Season 2 of Cobra Kai? Let’s investigate. Here’s everything we know about Cobra Kai Season 2.

WILL THERE BE A SEASON 2 OF COBRA KAI?

YouTube Red hasn’t made an official announcement concerning a Season 2 of Cobra Kai, so what are the chances we’ll be treated to more episodes? Episode 1 earned 5.4 million first-day views and the series currently boasts a 100% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Will there be a Season 2 of Cobra Kai? Again, there’s no official word, but when you factor in the events of the Season 1 finale and universal acclaim, we’re 99.9% sure there’s going to be a Season 2 of Cobra Kai.

WHEN WILL COBRA KAI SEASON 2 COME OUT? WHEN IS SEASON 2 OF COBRA KAI?

YouTube Red originally ordered the series back in August of 2017 and it premiered on May 2nd, 2018. Due to the overwhelming success of the revival, I imagine the official Season 2 order will be announced sooner rather than later. Our best guess? We’d expect to see Cobra Kai Season 2 around March or April of 2019.

HOW CAN I WATCH COBRA KAI?

WHAT DO THE COBRA KAI CREATORS SAY ABOUT SEASON 2?

Creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald have always had plans for additional seasons. When they initially pitched the idea to Macchio, they talked about the “pilot, first season, and beyond,” and Hurwitz spoke about his plans for Season 2 (which we won’t post here due to spoilers) during a conversation with Slash Film.

Additionally, in a recent interview with io9, co-creator Josh Heald said that he hopes the show has “multiple seasons.”
