Is Bryan Cranston In Season 2 Of ‘Sneaky Pete’?

Sneaky Pete was one of the most riveting television shows of 2017. The kinetic Amazon Original centers on Giovanni Ribisi’s cerebrally nimble confidence man Marius Josipovic, an ex-con on the run from a vicious gangster who assumes the identity of his old cellmate Pete (Ethan Embry) in an effort to elude his many enemies. Not only did the show’s freshman season become one of Amazon’s most watched shows, but the enthralling caper earned a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes sense when you look at Sneaky Pete’s accomplished pedigree.

The series was co-created by Bryan Cranston and boasts former Justified creator Graham Yost as the showrunner. Along with being a co-creator and executive producer, Season 1 found Cranston step in front of the camera to portray Vince, a charismatic gangster who serves as the antagonist for much of the show’s rookie season. The actor excelled in the role. It’s almost like Cranston had previous experience portraying a complex anti-hero?

Season 1 concluded with a one-thumbed Vince heading to the big house after shooting a federal agent. For most shows that would be case closed, but Sneaky Pete is a series that revels in the unexpected. With Season 2 set to drop this Friday (March 9th), many fans have been wondering if Bryan Cranston’s Vince will return to once again partake in a battle of wits against his old nemesis Marius Josipovic. Graham Yost and company deliver yet another captivating high-stakes game of con-man cat and mouse in Season 2, but, unfortunately, Bryan Cranston does not make an appearance in the latest batch of episodes.

Cranston may not be involved on-screen, but the former Breaking Bad star still had a hand in shaping Season 2. During a recent press junket for the upcoming season, showrunner Graham Yost told Decider that Cranston is a very “hands on producer.”

“Bryan always gives notes on every outline, every script, every cut, and casting, and all that stuff,” Yost told Decider. “That said, he wasn’t on the set every other day as he was in the first season. So it was just a little different.”

Just because the man who became synonymous with cooking meth in his skivvies doesn’t appear in Season 2 doesn’t mean he won’t potentially be back to wreak havoc if (and hopefully when) Amazon brings the series back for additional seasons. Since Vince is still alive in the Sneaky Pete universe, we asked Yost if he could possibly return for Season 3.

“Whether or not he’d return in Season 3, I think there is a universe where Vince could return at some point in the series,” Yost said.

Season 2 of Sneaky Pete premieres Friday, March 9 on Prime Video.
