Scott Baio Denies Underage Sexual Molestation Charges Made By Nicole Eggert: “I Have A 10-Year-Old Daughter”

Scott Baio spoke out this morning against the sexual assault charges that were made against him over the weekend. Last Saturday, actress Nicole Eggert took to Twitter to accuse her former  Charles In Charge co-star of repeatedly molesting her. At the time of the alleged assaults, Eggert was 14, and Baio was 26. This morning, Baio appeared on Good Morning America to defend himself against these allegations.

Accompanied by his publicist, Baio starts the interview with ABC News’s Amy Robach by confirming that he did have sex with Eggert, but he says she was 18 at the time. “I do have proof,” he said. “Charles in Charge ended in the fall of 1990, and she said in the Nik Richie interview on TheDirty.com that we had sex when she was 17, and she said we had sex long after Charles in Charge was done.”

Robach countered by pointing out that Eggert claims she lied about her original story. The actress now alleges that she did have sex with Baio when she was underage and while Charles in Charge was filming and that she only lied about the timing of the encounter to protect the show. Baio did not respond to that point, claiming he was too confused about what Eggert claims she did or did not lie about follow the story. “I don’t know how anybody can believe what she’s saying when her first allegation of having sex when she was 17 has been proven to be 100 percent false,” he said.

Baio also denied spending any time alone with Eggert “unless I was in a scene alone with her.” Robach brought up two cast members who alleged on Twitter that Eggert and Baio had a disturbingly close relationship while on set. Unprompted by Robach, Baio also went into detail about his alleged one sexual encounter with Eggert.

“By the way, Nicole and I were were friends after our only sexual encounter where she, she aggressively sought me out because she wanted me to be her first so that she would be good for her boyfriend,” he said. “Those are her words.”

Baio said that these allegations have cost him his reputation and for him to give up acting. “More important than that is my wife. And I have a 10-year-old daughter. And my 10-year-old daughter doesn’t need to be hearing about this from friends at school, these false allegations,” he said.

At the time of publication, neither Eggert nor The Dirty writer Nik Richie have retracted their allegations. You can watch the full interview above.
