When Does ‘Fuller House’ Season 4 Come Out?

At long last, the epic third season of Fuller House has reached its conclusion! A second batch of episodes arrived on Netflix in time for Christmas, finishing up Season 3’s storyline and (of course) leaving us begging for more. This season took the Fuller/Tanner/Gibbler clan on quite a journey, from the funhouse next door all the way to Japan and back again. DJ (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Kimmy (Andrea Barber) all experienced major life changes thanks to plenty of engagement drama and baby stress.

But what’s next for the extended and (sort of) blended family? We just got 18 episodes in a year, but that’s nowhere near enough! Fuller fans demand more, and we need to know when to expect more! But first things first…

Does Season 3 end on a cliffhanger?

Actually, not really? Okay okay okay–there are a lot of big developments in the Season 3 finale, but there are no major loose ends waiting to be tied up; like, there’s nothing similar to the romantic conundrum Steve faced in the midseason finale. Could this be the final episode of Fuller House? It wouldn’t be totally unsatisfying if “Here Comes the Sun” ended up being the end, but cutting the show off at this point would make us say “how rude.” But even though the episode doesn’t end on a classic cliffhanger per se, it does feature plenty of new developments that could make Fuller House Season 4 fuller than ever.

The episode takes place on the 30th anniversary of Joey (Dave Coulier) and Jesse (John Stamos) moving in with Danny (Bob Saget); that’s right, the season 3 finale of Fuller House celebrates the 30th anniversary of Full House, which debuted in September 1987. Gotta love it when this show goes meta! They celebrate it with an ’80s-themed rock and roll party at the old Smash Club (now a laundromat) and the reunion of Jesse and the Rippers.

The episode includes a number of big status quo shifts. Here’s a list!

  • Danny and Becky lost their jobs as the hosts of a national morning talk show!
  • Becky got re-hired by Wake Up San Francisco (Danny is, uh, out of luck)!
  • Jesse and Joey bought the old Smash Club (the laundromat you see above)!
  • Because of all that, Joey, Jesse, Becky, and Danny are all moving back to San Francisco–aw yeah!
  • Danny plans on moving back into his old room in the Fuller house, expecting DJ to once again bunk with Stephanie–uh oh!
  • The in vitro fertilization took and Kimmy is carrying Stephanie and Jimmy’s kid–whoa baby!

So yeah, that’s a lot! Season 4 could include Bob Saget as a full-fledged cast member, and potentially more guest appearances from the rest of the Full House adults since their characters are moving back to San Fran. And then there’s all the wacky stuff a pregnant Kimmy Gibbler can get up to–just imagine her day-glo maternity wear!

So when does Season 4 come out?

There’s no answer because–as creator Jeff Franklin told TV Line–Netflix has not picked Fuller House up for a fourth season just yet. That might be why the Season 3 finale felt a little less cliffhanger-y than normal, just in case it ends up being the series finale. In the past, 9 months have passed between Netflix renewing the show for another season and that season’s debut. So if Netflix renews the show soon, it could debut as early as September or October 2018. But that all depends on if and when Netflix renews the show! Come on, Netflix, have mercy!

UPDATE (1/29/18): Netflix had mercy and ordered a fourth season of Fuller House. A date has not been set for the show’s return, but, as pointed out above, it could arrive as early as this fall.

This article will be updated with a release date when Netflix announces it.

UPDATE (10/30/18): Netflix has announced that Fuller House will premiere on December 14, 2018 Season 4 .
