Afternoon Delight: Get Tickled By ‘Ticky Tacky’, A Wicked, Wild Short Film Starring Oscar Isaac

What better way to prepare for the fast-approaching weekend than by indulging in the some of the Internet’s most well-done web content? Take advantage of your lunch break and treat yourself to Afternoon Delight, Decider’s carefully curated picks of the best short-form content available on the world wide web. This week we’re spotlighting Ticky Tacky, a totally absurd short film starring a pre-Star Wars Oscar Isaac.

Ever wished you could watch dreamboat Oscar Isaac enact a revenge plot in the wacky style of Wes Anderson? Well, all your wishes are coming true thanks to Ticky Tacky, a delightful short film directed and written by Brian Petsos. When a wealthy, powerful man (Isaac) discovers that his girlfriend has been cheating on him with his cousin, he devises a plan with his prepubescent sidekick and lover of YooHoo Gabriel (Julian Shatkin) to exact revenge on the duo. What ensues is a totally off-the-wall series of events and role reversals that will have you in stitches.

Petsos’ complete control of Ticky Tacky‘s tone ensures that it’s never too self-serious or indulgent; there’s something totally fresh about the film, a sharpness and embracing of absurdity that keeps audiences on their toes with every turn. Isaac is at his bonkers best here; the back-and-forth at play between him and Shatkin is pure magic. It’s entirely too fun to watch Isaac embrace his inner, most immature child while Shatkin plays a stony-faced, sinister villain. The heart of the film lies in this excellent dynamic, and its entertainment never wavers. Who knew watching Isaac crunch on nuts, ogle at Playboy, and dance around with a can of gasoline could bring one so much enjoyment?

The self-awareness of Ticky Tacky and the commitment of all of its actors to its total violent absurdity and physical comedy will make you marvel at its uproarious sequences and how well-made it is all it once. Take 14 minutes out of your day and get a little wacky with Ticky Tacky. You won’t regret it.
