New Movies On Demand: ‘It,’ ‘American Made,’ ‘Battle of the Sexes’ And More

This is it, the last Friday before Christmas! The holiday season means you’re gonna be camped out in front of TVs and laptop screens waaaaay more than normal, so why not fill those screens with a new movie? There are plenty of new flicks released every week, meaning you’re bound to find the perfect something to watch with everyone from your parents to your cool aunt and your very upsetting cousins. Whether you use Amazon VideoiTunesVudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are a lot of new releases out there waiting for you to discover.
This week, the Tom Cruise based-on-a-true-story action/comedy American Made is available to purchase. The film stars Cruise as an American pilot named Barry Seal, a man that became a drug-runner for the CIA. You’ll have to wait a few weeks to rent American Made if you don’t want to pay full price for it, but there are plenty of big movies to rent. The World War II drama Dunkirk is available for cheap, as is the highly controversial Jennifer Lawrence/Darren Aronofsky experience mother!
What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at the collection of engrossing horror flicks, true tales, and informative documentaries now available for you to enjoy from the comfort of your very own home!

It

The Stephen King classic came to life again in this new adaptation of his classic horror novel. A mysterious, malevoelnt force has been feeding on the children of this small Maine town, and a group of kids have to band together to fight back this unspeakable evil. Oh, and the terrifying part? This isn’t even close to the first time this has happened. This horror stretches way back! This is definitely not a film to watch with the kids present, so maybe wait until they go to sleep before putting on this year’s massive horror hit. It will be available to rent next month.

Battle of the Sexes

Why not get historical over the holiday break with this look back at the epic rivalry between Billie Jean King and Robert Larimore Riggs? Emma Stone and Steve Carell totally become these tennis titans, serving performances that earned both of them Golden Globe nominations. This is a film that’s bound to please the sports fan and history buff in your family, as well as anyone that likes Stone or Carell. That’s pretty much everyone, right?

Other People

If you’re looking to go on a quiet emotional journey during your holiday break, you should check out Other People. Decider’s Lea Palmieri said of the film, which stars Jesse Plemons as a man helping his mother (Molly Shannon) through cancer treatment:
“Shannon is incredible in this role, and the movie is so beautifully done, you’ll find yourself crying every time you hear Train’s ‘Drops of Jupiter’ no matter where you are. The simpler the scenes, the more sorrowful they become, and you’ll want to watch it all over again just to cry at the same parts.”
