‘Silicon Valley’ Star T.J. Miller Has Been Accused Of Sexually Assaulting And Punching A Woman

One of the stars of HBO’s critically acclaimed Silicon Valley has now been accused of sexually assaulting and punching a woman. In a piece for The Daily Beast, Asawin Suebsaeng reveals that an anonymous woman has claimed comedian T.J. Miller assaulted her and hurt her when they were in college. Suebsaeng’s article also claims that several members of the comedy community have heard Miller joke about hurting a woman he knew in college.

In recent months, there have been an overwhelming amount of stories about sexual misconduct committed by men in Hollywood. However, the claims against Miller are some of the most disturbing. The woman in question, who wished to remain anonymous and is referred to as “Sarah” in the article, claims she knew Miller when they both attended George Washington University. They were in the same comedy friend group and saw each other romantically for a period of time. These accusations led to a case that was handled by a student court and, as The Daily Beast details, rumors of this attack have been circling the comedy scene for a long time.

“He just tried a lot of things without asking me, and at no point asked me if I was all right,” the woman accusing Miller told The Daily Beast. “He choke[d] me, and I kept staring at his face hoping he would see that I was afraid and [that he] would stop … I couldn’t say anything.”

Sarah claims that Miller once started “shaking me violently” during sex and even punched her in the mouth. The attack left her with a fractured tooth and a bloody lip, she claims. The woman also recounts that Miller used to choke her without her permission and that he violated her without her consent on at least two occasions — once anally and once with a beer bottle.

The Daily Beast corroborated details of Sarah’s stories with other students who also attended George Washington University. A group of women who claim to be Sarah’s roommates during that time in her life said that Sarah appeared with bruises and wounds after an encounter with Miller. A source also told The Daily Beast that following the student count case launched against Miller, he was “expelled after he graduated.” George Washington University has only confirmed that Miller graduated early.

For his part, Miller has denied these allegations. In a statement to The Daily Beast, Miller and his wife Kate Miller wrote that Sarah “began again to circulate rumors online once [my and Kate’s] relationship became public. Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again.”

“It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators,” the statement said.

This isn’t the first time rumors of violence against women have followed Miller around. The article details how these rumors have become so prevalent in some comedy circles, certain female comedians have refused to work with Miller. Also, two separate sources have claimed they’ve heard Miller joke about punching a woman he knew in college. You can read The Daily Beast’s full article here.
