New Movies On Demand: ‘American Assassin,’ ‘Despicable Me 3,’ ‘Valerian’ And More

It’s Friday and Thanksgiving is done. And if you’re not out on the front-lines of Black Friday, then you’re probably crashing on your couch taking in way too much TV. If you’ve already watched the shows your family is no doubt going on and on about, why not take in something new with them? You’re in luck, because even though you’ve taken a holiday, movies have not! Whether you use Amazon VideoiTunesVudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are a lot of new releases out there waiting for you to discover.
You could gather the family round for a screening of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a possibly inscrutable sci-fi flick from the brain behind The Fifth Element. Or if you’re looking for something potentially more relaxing, you and yours could pool your money together to buy the Reese Witherspoon romcom Home Again (it won’t be available to rent for a few more weeks). Now that the holiday season is upon us you could kick things off by renting a new straight-to-VOD Christmas family movie Saving Christmas, which features the legendary Ed Asner.
What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at the collection of informative docs, animated blockbusters, and tense dramas now available for you to enjoy from the comfort of your very own home!

American Assassin

Lead actor Dylan O’Brien plays a man reeling from a terrorist attack and channeling all of his anger into a bloody vengeance mission. Can only guy kill every terrorist in the world? This guy aims to find out. Along for the ride is his trainer, a scene-stealing Michael Keaton turning in his second-best performance of 2017. His first? Come on, Spider-Man: Homecoming, obviously. But that’s not a knock on his performance as an intense CIA trainer, it’s more of a statement of how unbelievably great he is in Spider-Man.

Despicable Me 3

Steve Carell’s supervillain Gru falls on hard times in the latest installment in the Despicable Me franchise, and his misfortune is multiplied when his long-lost brother Dru (also Carell) returns, rocking an impossibly high high-top mullet and a suit that looks like a combo Bowie/Prince getup. These animated hijinks pleased audiences a lot this past summer, with the film raking in over a billion dollars worldwide! See what all the fuss was about right now, or rent it in a few weeks (if the kids can wait that long).
