As Hollywood’s “open secrets” see the light of day and abusers are held accountable, it’s hard not to wonder when one of the industry’s oldest, dirtiest “open secrets” will be revealed. Corey Feldman has been trying to bring attention to Hollywood’s alleged pedophilia problem for years, and accused unnamed industry bigwigs of molestation and the rape of a then-11-year-old Corey Haim.
“[Haim] had more direct abuse than I did. With me, there were some molestations, and it did come from several hands, so to speak, but with Corey, his was direct rape, whereas mine was not actual rape. And his also occurred when he was 11.”
While Feldman has maintained that he cannot “name names” because it would lead to legal problems for him, early this morning, he posted a video to his Twitter account announcing that had started “Corey Feldman’s Truth Campaign“, an IndieGogo fundraiser intended to raise enough money to make a film about his life and the rampant sexual abuse in Hollywood:
“I’m coming to you today to talk to you about what’s on everybody’s mind,” Feldman starts. “I told everybody a few days ago that I had a plan to try and hopefully bring to light what is happening in the world of entertainment as far as perverts and pedophiles and all of the topics of what we’ve been discussing.”
Feldman goes on to describe the “devastation” he’s been experiencing the last few days since announcing his plans, including being arrested, having a near-death experience, and several of his band members quitting due to being “afraid for their lives”. Clearly drained, Feldman then proposes a plan to “change the entertainment system as we know it” and “bring down, potentially, a pedophile ring that I’ve been aware of since I was a child.” He claims that he can name six names, one of whom is still “very powerful today”, and that he can connect pedophilia to one of the “major studios”.
For the video’s 7-minute duration, Feldman describes the anguish he’s experienced and pain that’s been inflicted on him by this system, and while it’s scary to speak out, he has to do it. With the money raised from the fundraiser, he will do everything for the film from start to finish to ensure that it sees a theatrical release and there is no studio interference, and he will also use the funds to provide legal protection and security for his family.
“This can truly be a way to regain control over who has access to children in the industry, while weeding out the criminals who have already caused the damage,” the fundraiser page reads. “This is a call for the world to unite for a most important cause, to preserve the innocence of children. Please do your part TODAY.”
