Kate Winslet Is Over It In Trailer For Woody Allen’s ‘Wonder Wheel’

An idyllic Coney Island in the 1950s turns dark in the first trailer for Woody Allen’s new movie Wonder Wheel.

The trailer opens on a beach scene as Justin Timberlake, a lifeguard, presides over the water. But soon enough, the imagery takes a dramatic turn.

The film’s plot revolves around four performances — Timberlake, a lifeguard; Kate Winslet, a waitress; Jim Belushi, Winslet’s rough and tough husband; and Juno Temple, Winslet and Belushi’s estranged daughter.

Temple’s character, it turns out, is being chased down by the mob. “I know where all the bodies are buried,” Temple says at point point in the trailer.

Later, Timberlake growls “I know what it is you did.” The trailer then cuts to Winslet asking “Don’t you think you’re being a little melodramatic?”

In addition to Wonder Wheel, Winslet recently signed on for the Avatar sequels, which will reunite her with Titanic director James Cameron. Allen has another untitled project in the works with another star-studded cast that includes Jude Law and Selena Gomez.

Wonder Wheel was selected as the closing night film at this year’s New York Film Festival. It’s scheduled for release by Amazon Studios on Dec. 1. It will be the first movie that Amazon self-distributes, marking its move toward establishing itself as a full-fledged studio.
