Hulu and 20th Century Fox Television Distribution announced an massive new agreement that will add nearly 3,000 episodes from 26 comedy and drama series to the streaming service.
Under the expanded deal, Hulu obtains streaming rights to every episode of shows including How I Met Your Mother, Burn Notice, Bones and Glee, as well as all 11 seasons of M*A*S*H and the full NYPD Blue library.
Through the agreement, Hulu’s offering will expand over the coming weeks with all episodes of the following series from 20th Century Fox:
Comedies: How I Met Your Mother, Raising Hope, The Bernie Mac Show, Better Off Ted, Reba, Life in Pieces
Dramas: NYPD Blue, Bones, Glee, Burn Notice, White Collar, The Practice
Classic Series: M*A*S*H, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, The Bob Newhart Show
Fan Favorites: Don’t Trust the B—in Apartment 23, The Grinder, Blue Collar, Saving Grace, Lie To Me, Graceland
Cult Hits: Dollhouse, Wilfred, The Glades
The deal comes on the heels of Hulu’s deal last week with 20th Century Fox TV for all episodes of four animated comedies from the studio: Emmy-winning comedy Bob’s Burgers along with American Dad, Futurama, and The Cleveland Show.
While 21st Century Fox holds a 33% ownership stake in Hulu, the companies’ execs say 20th Century Fox does not give any preferential treatment to Hulu over Netflix or other streaming services in cutting licensing deals.
