The Marvel Cinematic Universe started with a big bang in 2008 with the release of *Iron Man*. The film catapulted the armored Avenger to the forefront of Marvel's IP and put Robert Downey Jr. back on the A-list. This film, which runs through billionaire playboy Tony Stark's transformation into a world-saving superhero, packs just as much wit as it does action.

**Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull**

**Rotten Tomatoes Score:** 77%
Fans may not remember *Kingdom of the Crystal Skull* too fondly (#NukeTheFridge), but the film *did* rake in big bucks at the box office back in 2008. That may be because it had been almost 20 years since fans last saw Harrison Ford crack Indiana Jones' whip. With a fifth Indy flick on the way, you might want to familiarize yourself with where we last left the adventurer.

**The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 2**

The grand finale of the *Hunger Games* quadrilogy, the second *Mockingjay* chapter brought Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen into direct conflict with Julianne Moore's President Alma Coin. If you haven't seen the previous three *Hunger Games* films, you'll definitely be lost if you drop in at the tail end of this dystopian series. If you missed *Mockingjay-Part 2* when it was in theaters, though, Hulu has you covered.

**Raiders of the Lost Ark**

Steven Spielberg's first Indiana Jones film dazzled critics and audiences alike with its retro style and slam bang action. Harrison Ford made viewers forget his *Star Wars* scoundrel Han Solo and gave them a real hero to cheer for: archaeologist/adventurer Indiana Jones. The initial *Indiana* installment pits Jones against a group of Nazis out to steal the Biblical Ark of the Covenant.

**Spectre**

The most recent James Bond film, 2015's *Spectre*, brought the titular villain organization back into the spotlight after a 44 year absence. Heading up that organization? Christoph Waltz as classic *Bond* baddie Ernst Blofeld. The film, Daniel Craig's fourth turn as 007, pushed the super-spy like never before and resulted in the second most successful *Bond* film of all time (behind 2012's *Skyfall*, which is sadly *not* on Hulu).

**Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade**

For almost 20 years, *Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade* served as the end of Indiana Jones' story. The 1989 film partnered Ford's iconic hero with...his father! Sean Connery entered the franchise as Professor Henry Jones, a man that was maybe more obsessed with finding historical artifacts than raising his son. The two worked through their differences while fighting off Nazis.

**Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation**

Tom Cruise's mega-hit franchise came back for its fifth installment in 2015, which once again paired Cruise's Ethan Hunt with sidekicks played by Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner. New to this installment is an undercover MI6 agent played with deadly precision by Rebecca Ferguson. Agent Ilsa Faust more than holds her own against and side-by-side with Ethan Hunt during the duration of this tense mission.

**Interstellar**

Director Christopher Nolan followed up his blockbuster Batman trilogy with this mind-bending sci-fi drama. The film follows the journey of astronauts in search of a new home for humanity. With a cast headed up by Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, *Interstellar* goes for visual spectacle (it won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects) as well as moments that are deeply human.

**Gladiator**

One of two Best Picture winners on this list, *Gladiator* transported viewers back in time for an unflinching and violent look at ancient Rome. Best Actor winner Russell Crowe stars as general-turned-slave Maximus, a man who then fights for his freedom in a series of high-stakes gladiatorial matches. Ridley Scott's kinetic directing style comes alive in this film, which also renewed interest in ancient history.

**Dances with Wolves**

The *other* Best Picture winner on this list, Kevin Costner's directorial debut came right in the middle of his late '80s/early '90s hot streak. The Civil War period film stars Costner as a lieutenant in the Union Army who journeys into the American frontier and interacts with various Native American tribes, specifically the Lakota. In addition to winning the box office, the film also won seven Oscars in 1990.

**Mission: Impossible**

When it began in 1996, *Mission: Impossible* was just one of many big screen adaptations of classic TV shows. Since then, the *M:I* franchise has become a reliable crowdpleaser that ups the stakes with every film. Brian DePalma's initial *Mission* is a tense spy thriller containing the definitive *Impossible* stunt: Tom Cruise's incredibly taught and weightless wirework stunt.

**Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom**

Set before the events of *Raiders of the Lost Ark*, the second *Indiana Jones* film ups the ante by dropping the archaeologist/adventurer in an elaborate-at times terrifying-action set piece involving runaway mine carts and human sacrifice. By Indy's side are nightclub performer Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) and the rambunctious kid Short Round (Ke Huy Quan).

**Top Gun**

When *Top Gun* dropped in theaters in 1986, it became a phenomenon. Not only did the film cement Tom Cruise as a legit movie star, this military action/drama also dominated radio by way of a hit-filled soundtrack. If you want to see the film that gave us Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" and Berlin's "Take My Breath Away," then Hulu will help you make that happen.

**The Karate Kid**

This underdog sports drama got a whole generation of kids into martial arts years before the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sliced up their first pizza pie. The film stars Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, a high school kid who learns karate from the eccentric Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) in order to defend himself and impress his classmates. This film's success led to two direct sequels and two reboot attempts starring Hilary Swank and Jaden Smith.

**Casino Royale**

Following a series of increasingly over-the-top installments starring Pierce Brosnan, the *Bond* franchise hit the reset button with 2006's *Casino Royale*. With the intimidating Daniel Craig in the role, 007's adventures took on a grittier-but no less suave-tone. *Casino Royale* takes Bond back to his roots, with Craig playing a less-experienced but no less deadly super spy. **Big Daddy**

Adam Sandler stars in this 1999 comedy film about a schlubby slacker who, literally overnight, becomes the caretaker of an abandoned 5-year-old. While the film didn't win over critics, the unlikely father/son combo warmed the hearts of viewers and helped *Big Daddy* become Sandler's biggest live-action hit ever. Plus, if you're a fan of *Riverdale*, you can see lil' Jughead (Cole Sprouse) in this film.

**SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water**

Over ten years after the first animated *SpongeBob SquarePants Movie*, the popular undersea sponge returned in a "live action" feature film that added new depths to the Nicktoon's cast. In the film, SpongeBob and his pals go up against a dangerous pirate named Burger-Beard (Antonio Banderas). The film outperformed its predecessor and performed well overseas, pulling in $325M worldwide.

**The Firm**

With four films spread across three distinct properties, Tom Cruise is easily the biggest star on Hulu. In addition to *Top Gun* and two *Mission: Impossible* films, another Cruise hit-the legal thriller based on John Grisham's novel *The Firm*-can be found on Hulu. Cruise stars as Harvard Law grad Mitch McDeere, whose ritzy new life at a prestigious law firm is thrown into chaos when the FBI starts investigating a murder.

**Who Framed Roger Rabbit**

This 1988 hit broke ground by seamlessly combining live action with animation to weave a wacky noir tale. Bob Hoskins stars as private eye Eddie Valiant, a man pulled into Toontown by Roger Rabbit after he's framed for murder. *Roger Rabbit* also features a terrifying turn from *Back to the Future's* Christopher Lloyd. As with *Casino Royale*, you'll have to have a Showtime login in order to hang out with Roger Rabbit.

**Beverly Hills Cop 2**

Three years after the first *Beverly Hills Cop*, Eddie Murphy returned to duty as wisecracking Detroit cop Axel Foley for this 1987 sequel. This time around, Foley gets to go undercover as an FBI agent as he and his partner (Judge Reinhold) try to stop a ring of international munitions smugglers. Iron Man

Summer movie season is here, meaning big movies with big budgets earning big box office. But the biggest movies might not necessary be showing on the big screen. In fact, there are some major hits lurking on your TV or laptop right now–if you’re a Hulu member. Under the radar, Hulu has quietly become a go-to destination for major movies. That’s a big leap from the streaming service’s initial designation as the place to find current episodes of new TV shows. Hulu’s movie library is now as substantial as its TV library.

After running through the 20 movies that were hits with critics, we’ve crunched the box office data to determine the movies on Hulu that earned the most money during their theatrical release. It may surprise you, but there are some real heavy-hitters just waiting to be streamed on Hulu. The entire Indiana Jones franchise is there, as is the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man) and the conclusion of the Hunger Games series (Mockingjay-Part 2).
