**Man on Wire**

This 2008 documentary tells the thrilling true story of French high-wire artists Philippe Petit, a man who looked at the World Trade Center's Twin Towers and thought, "I want to walk between them." In 1974, Petit and a crew of collaborators orchestrated the event, culminating in a death-defying hourlong high-wire act. The acclaimed *Man on Wire* is a documentary, but it also has the feel of a heist film.

**Anatomy of a Murder**
**Rotten Tomatoes Score:** 100
This tense courtroom drama earned seven Academy Award nominations upon its release in 1959, including Best Picture and Best Actor for James Stewart. The film, often called the best trial movie ever, also shocked audiences for its frank discussion of sex. Inspired by the murder of Maurice Chenoweth in 1952, *Anatomy of a Murder* will be up your alley if you're into true crime stories.

**Shaun the Sheep Movie**

Unlikely British icon Shaun the Sheep charmed the pants off of critics when his stop-motion animated feature film arrived in theaters in 2015. The film follows the misadventures of a sheep named Shaun after one of his schemes inadvertently gives his farmer amnesia. This little movie that could earned universal acclaim and an Academy Award nomination.

**All About My Mother**
**Rotten Tomatoes Score:** 98
Visionary director Pedro Almodovar turned his attention towards a diverse group of women with this Academy Award winning film. With a nurse named Manuela as the entry character, *All About My Mother* shifts from tale to tale with each new narrative focusing on another complex female character. The film also features Penelope Cruz in a star making turn as an HIV positive and pregnant nun.

**Who Framed Roger Rabbit**

While many films from childhood probably haven't stood the test of time, the dark and rambunctious *Who Framed Roger Rabbit* definitely does. The revolutionary film married live-action and animated sequences on a scale unseen before 1988, and it backed up those marvelous effects with a riveting noir plot. Both critics and audiences rallied around *Roger Rabbit*, making it one of the biggest movies of the '80s. Like some movies on this list, though, *Who Framed Roger Rabbit* is on Hulu courtesy of Showtime and you'll have to have a Showtime login to watch it.

**Apocalypse Now**

This 1979 war film from Francis Ford Coppola put a whole new spin on the novella *Heart of Darkness*. This unflinching look at the Vietnam War stars a young Martin Sheen as Captain Benjamin L. Willard and, in one of his most iconic roles, Marlon Brando as Colonel Kurtz. The film's production was riddled with problems, including the near death of Sheen, but the film went on to become one of the most revered of all time.

**Hunt for the Wilderpeople**

This heartwarming New Zealand buddy comedy from director Taika Waititi stars an almost unrecognizably gruff Sam Neill and swag-filled newcomer Julian Dennison. After a family crisis, a delinquent and his reluctant adoptive father disappear into the wilds of New Zealand, unknowingly setting off a constantly escalating manhunt.

**All Things Must Pass**

Actor-turned-filmmaker Colin Hanks crafted a documentary around the rise and fall of one of the most iconic music brick-and-mortar stores of all time: Tower Records. Featuring interviews from music icons like Chuck D., David Geffen, Dave Grohl, Elton John and more, the film explores Tower's legacy since it filed for bankruptcy in 2006.

**The Insider**
**Rotten Tomatoes Score:** 96
Russell Crowe snagged an Oscar nomination for his performance in this true story of a tobacco industry whistleblower. Director Michael Mann went to great lengths to portray these real life events accurately--a task made even more daunting considering the film's events took place just three years prior. While *The Insider* may not be talked about much today, it's the film that kicked off Crowe's trio of Best Actor noms starting in 1999. **Exit Through the Gift Shop**

This British documentary dives into the world of graffiti and street art by way of Los Angeles transplant Thierry Guetta (a.k.a. Mr. Brainwash). Behind the camera is the iconic and anonymous artist Banksy, whose involvement only fueled speculation that the whole doc is really an elaborate prank. Critics were divided on whether or not Mr. Brainwash is a legit street artist, but they almost unanimously agreed that the finished film is a captivating and engrossing watch.

**Casino Royale**
**Rotten Tomatoes Score:** 95
After a string of progressively tongue-in-cheek adventures with Pierce Brosnan's 007, the franchise hit the reboot button with a gritty installment starring an all-new Bond: Daniel Craig. This no-holds-barred take on the iconic spy resonated with audiences and Craig brought a whole new level of gravitas to the role. If James Bond's extensive film history intimidates you, then this is the one to start with. You'll have to have a Showtime account in order to watch *Casino Royale* on Hulu, but the most recent Bond film *Spectre* is available to all Hulu users.

**Creed**

As a spinoff/sequel to a 30-year-old sports drama, *Creed* is the kind of film that shouldn't work but absolutely delivers. It's not just the unexpected follow-up to *Rocky IV*, it's a powerful film in its own right packed with captivating performances by Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. The film also put writer/director Ryan Coogler in the spotlight, earning him critical acclaim.

**Heathers**

This quintessential '80s high school flick was actually a box office bomb before it became a cult classic. The film, which stars Winona Ryder as a popular girl striving to break out of her clique by any means necessary, earned praise from critics and has only become edgier and angstier with the passage of time. The film also features an early performance from Christian Slater, at the height of his swooshy-haired teen idol popularity.

**To Catch a Thief**

Alfred Hitchcock is represented in Hulu's library by way of *To Catch a Thief*, a romantic thriller from 1955 starring Cary Grant as a retired cat burglar and Grace Kelly as his wealthy target. The film was nominated for a number of Academy Awards, including Best Cinematography (which it won), Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design. Like a few other hits on this list, this Hitchcock classic is only viewable if you also have a Showtime account.

**Iron Man**

Marvel Studios took a big risk when they put Robert Downey Jr. back in the spotlight as a little known narcissistic playboy superhero. *Iron Man* wowed critics and audiences with its kinetic take on Tony Stark's transformation into an armored superhero, and it kickstarted the most successful feature film franchise of all time: the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you've somehow missed out on these movies over the past 9 years, you can start catching up on Hulu.

**Raiders of the Lost Ark**

Steven Spielberg brought a retro sense of adventure to movie theaters in 1981 with the first Indiana Jones film, launching one of the most beloved and successful film series ever. **The Truman Show**

Years before the 21st century's reality TV boom, *The Truman Show* predicted everything from *Big Brother* to *Keeping Up with the Kardashians* way back in 1998. Jim Carrey stars as the titular Truman, a 30-year-old man who has no idea that his tiny town-and his entire life-has been fabricated and is in reality a television show created for the world's entertainment. The film established Carrey as a capable dramatic actor and also scored three Oscar nominations.

**March of the Penguins**

This Academy Award winning documentary chronicles the yearly journey of emperor penguins across a 62 mile stretch of Antarctica, and all the trials that come with the sometimes perilous trek. The film, produced on a modest budget of $8 million, became a sensation upon its release in 2005, earning praise from critics and earning over ten times its budget at the box office.

**Planes, Trains and Automobiles**

This is a buddy comedy without the buddies. Unlikely travel mates played by Steve Martin and John Candy try in every way possible to get back home to Chicago for Thanksgiving, resulting in a hilarious (and sometimes harrowing) road trip that pushes both men well past their limits. The John Hughes film has become a holiday classic, but you can watch it well before November with a Hulu subscription.

**Sicario**

Emily Blunt plays an FBI agent leading a government task force on a mission to take down a notorious and deadly Mexican drug cartel in this intense and gritty crime drama. The film wowed critics when it debuted in 2015, earning praise for its tight plot and outstanding performances from Blunt and Benicio del Toro. *Sicario* even earned a trio of Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Sound Editing.

With streaming services turning out critically-acclaimed show after show, it’s easy to overlook all the feature films rounding out those content libraries.
