Final Shots: TBS & TNT Launch New Roku Streaming Apps

TBS and TNT have announced together the launch of brand new streaming apps for Roku which will provide viewers with a new way to watch content from both Turner networks digitally. The brand new interface will also be available via Google Chromecast and VIZIO SmartCast devices.

According to a press release, the new upgrades incorporate Vizbee technology to allows viewers to cast content seamlessly from a mobile device to any connected screen, without the need for a special app or plug-in. The apps also now include an “instant-on” feature, which allows users to watch premium content as soon as they open the app or website. The new “freeviews” feature allows first-time users to watch up to five minutes of any on-demand program or 10 minutes of any live event before being asked to sign in to an authenticated account. The latter improvements have also been integrated into both network websites.

Netflix has released five plot points for the recently ordered second season of original series 13 Reasons Why. These items include 1; There will be a narrator, but it won’t be Hannah – No more tapes. And 2; The season will explore “the way we raise boys up into men and the way we treat girls in our culture – and what we could do better in both cases.” [Forbes]

Time Inc.’s PEN streaming service today announced a Mother’s Day themed programming slate that includes the new original talk series Mamarazzi hosted by mom bloggers Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein. According to a press release, the six-episode series will premiere May 15 along with specials Raising Stars, Mom Talk: Today Show Edition and Jess Cagle Interview: Goldie Hawn.

Univision’s streaming platform Univision NOW is now available to consumers via the Roku platform. According to a press release, the platform is Hispanic America’s very first and only Spanish-language live streaming and on-demand subscription service.

Netflix has released a second official trailer to Brad Pitt’s forthcoming original film, War Machine. Premiering May 26, the brand new feature from writer-director David Michôd follows Gen. McMahon (Pitt) as he takes command of NATO forces in Afghanistan:
