The fall TV you adore is finally back in full force. This past holiday weekend has given you ample time to catch up on all of your favorites, from sexy Showtime classics to new Netflix fan favorites. Now that we’re all caught up, we need to take a moment to appreciate the actress who is dominating fall television this week, Julia Goldani Telles.

Telles plays a nightmare version of a teenage daughter in Showtime’s original about infidelity, The Affair. Whitney is certainly insufferable, but the actress behind her has been mastering haughty characters you love to hate throughout her entire career. Everyone adores a good villain, and Telles has proven she’s great at them as well as cementing her place as a young actress to watch. To give you the low-down on this highly talented and versatile actress, we’ve composed a “meet cute” for Telles. From the star’s ballet roots to her surprise guest appearance in the Gilmore Girls revival, Telles has dominated during her short career. Make sure you keep an eye on this rising star.

Bunheads (2012 – 2013)

In retrospect, Telles’ first role seems incredibly appropriate for her career. Telles took her first role shortly after she took a break from ballet. Though she had never had an acting job and didn’t even have head shots, Telles successfully landed the role of Sasha Torres on Amy Sherman-Palladino’s show about ballet, Bunheads. Fittingly, Sasha is one of the best dancers at Paradise Dance Academy and knows it, often to her detriment.

The Carrie Diaries (2014)

Telles had another dance-connected role on the CW’s short-lived comedy, The Carrie Diaries. In Season Two, Telles played Amelia Strong, the youngest ballerina to ever play the Black Swan. Amelia gives Carrie an honest interview about the pressures of living up to standards when you’re so young, which is something Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) can relate to. Though it’s a brief role that plays up Telles’ young age, the actress portrays the anxieties and intensity of the character well.

Nurse Jackie (2014)

The actress showed of her comedic chops by appearing in a three episode arc on this Showtime series. Telles portrayed Mandy, the friend of one Jackie’s daughters, Grace (Ruby Jerins). Telles’ character is the stereotypical bad teen who bullies Grace into hiding drugs in her house. It’s not the juiciest role, but it is one that sets up a lot of drama in the series.

The Affair (2014 – 2016)

It’s because of this steamy Showtime drama that you likely recognize Telles’ face. The dancer-turned-actress stars as Whitney Solloway, Noah (Dominic West) and Helen’s (Maura Tierney) daughter. Fans of the series may remember Whitney as coming out to her dad in the most horrifying way possible — by hooking up with a woman in the same hot tub as him. Whitney is a nightmare of a daughter and basically the worst teenager ever. Being that intensely hatable takes talent.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)

Telles is back in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s thanks to the new Gilmore Girls reboot. In “Spring,” Telles plays Sandee, the founder and namesake of the site where Rory is applying to work, Sandee Says. Sandee makes for a perfectly believable and confident Millennial CEO, someone whose success and and composure throws Rory even further off her game.
