This past weekend was the 2017 Miss America competition, and if large-scale beauty competitions are something you’re into, then you’re probably pretty happy. It was a big night. Savvy Shields, representing Arkansas, walked away with the crown, Missouri representative Erin O’Flaherty made history as the first openly gay contestant, and people questioned the necessity of the swimsuit competition as they do almost every year. However, the secret star of the night was billionaire investor, Dallas Maverick’s owner, Shark Tank personality, and apparent Miss America judge Mark Cuban.
Cuban was one of the night’s celebrity judges, where he joined Sharlene Hawkes Wells (crowned Miss America in 1985), Sara Foster (Barely Famous), and country music star Cole Swindell. It didn’t take long for the shark to creepily steal some of the spotlight on social media. Everything was business as usual during the swimsuit competition until Miss Arkansas took the stage. That’s when Cuban licked his lips, and one of the creepiest memes of 2016 was born:
