A rape accusation scandal has recently rocked the comedy world. (Yes, a different rape scandal than the one that is currently rocking the film world.) If you’ve been following along on social media, you’re more than informed. If not, here’s the short of it: Comedian Aaron Glaser was recently banned from the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City where has a monthly show, because multiple women have accused him of sexual assault, harassment, and rape, according to the New York Daily News. Since then, a number of male comedians have come to his defense, including Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che, and Inside Amy Schumer writer Kurt Metzger.

Kurt Metzger, in particular, went on what many are calling a misogynistic and victim-blaming tirade on social media over the weekend, prompting a response from Schumer on twitter:

For devout Schumer fans, however, this was not enough. Since Amy Schumer has established herself as a feminist, and has recently opened up about being a rape survivor, many Twitter users were asking how she could possibly continue to support Metzger by employing him on her show. Some claim she even blocked twitter account after fans asked why she employs a “rape appologist.” Schumer replied with the cryptic tweet:

So… did Amy Schumer herself says there’s no job to fire Metzger from in the first place because there is no more Inside Amy Schumer? It wouldn’t be a huge shocker, we mentioned back in back in June that season 4 of the show seemed less buzz-worthy and had less viral moments than previous seasons, and it also seems like Schumer has other projects and events that she’s perhaps more interested in pursuing and spending time on. Also, she’s had a difficult year across the board, having to defend herself from joke stealing accusations and general Twitter nastiness. However, this morning Schumer tweeted another update to add to this saga!

Comedy Central did renew the show for its fifth season back in January after all. So what’s actually going on Amy?! Time will tell, but we do hope to see Amy Schumer back at it on her hilarious and biting show, and we hope this controversy has the best possible outcome for those affected.
