Netflix Announces ‘Black Mirror,’ ‘Gilmore Girls’ Premiere Dates, New Shows, And More At Summer TCA!

It’s always an exciting day when Netflix makes announcements! Today comes a bunch of ridiculously exciting ones, like the long-awaited Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premiere date set for this fall, the renewing of Chelsea and Lady Dynamite for second seasons, and the casting of Jennifer Garner as the voice of a lead character in Netflix’s new animated show Llama Llama. Also, the premiere dates of Black Mirror, Chef’s Table: France, and The Ranch were also announced, meaning that you can start marking your calendars for when your faves come back into your life. You can admit you do it, this is a safe space.

You’ll also have some more new streaming content to look forward to in the near future because Netflix has picked up new series, such as Easy, an anthology series that will feature Orlando Bloom, and Untitled Motown Project from Josh Wakley who created Beat Bugs, which coincidentally also got picked up for a first and second season today. Everything is connected!

Here’s a run down of what we now know what’s coming soon to Netflix:

One Day at a Time, a re-imagining of the Norman Lear classic, will now center on a Cuban-American family and star Rita Moreno.

There are also a couple of shows that don’t have premiere dates just yet, but are definitely coming back, so let that sigh of relief out. Chelsea Handler’s talk show Chelsea will return for a 90-episode second season in 2017, Maria Bamford’s surrealist comedy Lady Dynamite is also set to premiere its second season in 2017, as is Rob Schneider’s comedy series Real Rob.

An Untitled Motown Project is also coming from Josh Wakley, a musically-themed animated series that revolves around an eight year old boy named Ben who can bring street-art to life. Some casting announcements include Jennifer Garner signing on as the voice of Mama Llama in Llama Llama, an animated series targeted towards preschoolers which is set to premiere in 2017. The tween drama Greenhouse Academy (formerly known as The Greenhouse) also announced its cast, which will include Jessica Amlee, Chris O’Neal, Finn Roberts, and Parker Stevenson. Needless to say, we’re all going to pretty occupied streaming-wise for the next year and a half.
