Ah, Prime Video… Amazon’s subscription-based streaming service offers its users an unparalleled library of upper crust classics and low rent exploitation flicks. Case in point: After you binge-watch your favorite Masterpiece Classic, you can check out the cheesy 3D exploitation film that cost Boardwalk Empire‘s Paz de la Huerta her career. That’s right: Nurse 3D is streaming on Prime.

Nurse 3D would make for juicy viewing even if it wasn’t mired in scandal. De la Heurta plays Abby, a seemingly friendly nurse who likes to spend her nights murdering philanderers, date raping her female colleagues, and taking off her clothes. She’s especially fond of not wearing pants or skirts or bottoms of any kind. Abby becomes obsessed with a new nurse played by 30 Rock‘s Katrina Bowden. Judd Nelson rounds out the cast as a nefarious doctor on staff.

That all may sound like a ton of fun to you, but it was horrible for de la Huerta. Last summer, the actress sued the filmmakers for $55 million. She alleges that before appearing in the film she could command a salary of over $2 million per year and now she was making next to nothing. Adding to her list of grievances? She was hit by a speeding ambulance while shooting Nurse 3D and suffered a spinal injury. That’s not the end of it: The filmmaker used another actress’s voice over throughout the film and de la Huerta wants it re-dubbed with her own voice.

Right now the film has a 55% grade on Rotten Tomatoes, so you might think it’s got some hidden merit. However, The Guardian chose to interpret this rating with some grade-A shade: “Nurse 3D received middling reviews on release but does not appear to have been seen widely enough by professionals to merit a place on traditional lists of famously bad movies.” Ouch.
