As if you needed another excuse to watch Netflix. The streaming giant is claiming consuming streaming video is more environmentally conscious than reading, reports Wired. “A viewer who turned off their TV to read books would consume about 24 books a year in equivalent time, for a carbon footprint around 65kg CO2e — over 200 times more than Netflix streaming servers,” the company claimed in a blog post yesterday. Another (slightly more necessary) activity Netflix claims is less green than binge-watching your Buffy or The X-Files: breathing. Might not want to give that one up, though.
