Arguably Woody Allen‘s best drama, Husbands and Wives explores the complex dynamics of married and unmarried relationships through two couples — one looking to get hitched and the other, separated. WON: Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Art Direction, Best Foreign Language Film

Ang Lee directs the adaptation of Du Lu Wang’s samurai revenge tale featuring some of the craziest acrobatics in Oscar history. The film’s legend lives on fifteen years later as Netflix has acquired a sequel as its first original film, due out this summer. [Stream on Hulu]

4

'Fargo' (1996)

WON: Best Screenplay, Joel and Ethan Coen; Best Actress, Frances McDormand

The Oscars feel a tad incomplete without the Coen Brothers in the race, making for a perfect excuse to watch Fargo. Revisiting the existential tale of a midwestern kidnapping turned murder is especially fun if you recently finished watching FX’s Fargo, which snagged the Golden Globe for best miniseries. 'The Graduate' (1967)

WON: Best Director, Mike Nichols

Anne Bancroft is Mrs. Robinson, next door neighbor of Ben Braddock (Dustin Hoffman): recent graduate who’s enjoying his last lazy summer before entering the real world of the workforce. Through boredom and a pinch of curiosity, Ben succumbs to Mrs. Robinson’s advances, beginning a hot and heavy affair. There’s just one problem: he’s in love with her daughter, Elaine (Katharine Ross). The late Mike Nichols‘ perennial romance will get you in the mood for Oscar night in no time. [Stream on Hulu]
